This isn't just for Texans although it should increase every Texan's Texas Pride. The feats of the Rangers almost defy belief and this video shows them in all their glory - from hunting down Bonnie and Clyde to one Ranger facing down 15,000 Ku Klux Klansmen in Waco to the Rangers almost singlehandedly winning the Mexican-American War. The darker pages in Ranger history - in particular the period during the Mexican Revolution of the early 20th Century are not glossed over but are placed in their proper context.
The Rangers were tough men but Texas was a tough place those days. As the author and historian T. R. Fehrenbach explains they were almost always outnumbered by opponents who didn't take prisoners. The men of the Rangers deserve to be remembered and this DVD does it well.

This is a PBS film describing the history of the Texas Rangers. I am a native Texan and did not know much of this history. The first Rangers lived in a sparsely settled state and faced attacks from some of the most vicious Indian tribes, a Mexican Army that repeatedly tried to reconquer Texas, and some of the most cold-blooded outlaws in American history. This DVD tells you how they won. Highest recommendation.

This was just too short to be satisfying! Just made me want more details! get it and see, you will not be disappointed. Any student of history will enjoy! and you will see some issues of America worth remembering!

We got this for our daughter who is researching the Rangers for a historical fiction book she's writing. We thought it was a good documentary, but I wouldn't have minded if it had been longer. :-)

I learned one new item from this video, but overall, I was not overly impressed and cannot really recommend it unless you know nothing about the Ranger at all...

Just a jumble of uninformed television clips of talking heads. Its dumbed down talk fits well with the sitting governor of Texas. Know nothing, suck up to rich oil men like the Koch brothers.
