This review is from: Texas Is the Reason (Audio CD)
I bought this CD in 1998, which was four years ago, and its still one of my favorites. I still listen to it fairly often, I just can't get tired of it. I think this is Texas is the Reason's first release, they might have had a seven inch record come out before this, but it certainly is an early release because the recording quality is not that good. It's not really bad, but it's not even close to the level of sound quality that is on their first and only full length release Do You Know Who You Are. This is also harder than their full length as well, it's more rocking. The full length dabbled in a little country rock to go along with the hardcore and emo sound, this release doesn't. It sticks to a straight ahead formula of hardcore, emo and alternative rock. The vocals are basically a mix of traditional emo vocals and traditional punk vocals that create an interesting mix. Emotion is expressed very well vocally. He can express sadness without sounding too whiney and anger without screaming his head off. It's very hard to compare Texas is the Reason to other bands, so I'm not even going to try. The way they sound is stated above, that's the best I can do. This band is far too good and unique to be copied.

Great debut,

Only 3 tracks but 3 decent tracks. They have much more of a 'raw' sound than on their album the 3rd track 'antique' realy standing out amongst them. I know a lot of people prefered the album to the Ep but I feel that not only does this have that raw energy of a debut release but they seem to have a better ballance of the length of the tracks. I felt that some of the songs on the album just went on too long.

Perfect,
This review is from: Texas Is the Reason (Audio CD)
This ep is amazing in every way, just 3 songs but those 3 songs are better than most bands can muster in a whole album.
