5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing first release!!!
I bought this CD in 1998, which was four years ago, and its still one of my favorites. I still listen to it fairly often, I just can't get tired of it. I think this is Texas is the Reason's first release, they might have had a seven inch record come out before this, but it certainly is an early release because the recording quality is not that good. It's not really...

3.0 out of 5 stars This is a harsh review but fair.
This is a great release by the legendary texas, but the quality of the recording always bugs me. Its like they blasted the treble up and there is this "whishy" sound over the distorted guitars. But once you ve got over the poor quality sound you realise this is nearly as good as the proper albumn. Antique has a fantastic slurry riff that sounds way trashyer...

It's not really bad, but it's not even close to the level of sound quality that is on their first and only full length release Do You Know Who You Are. This is also harder than their full length as well, it's more rocking. The full length dabbled in a little country rock to go along with the hardcore and emo sound, this release doesn't. It sticks to a straight ahead formula of hardcore, emo and alternative rock. The vocals are basically a mix of traditional emo vocals and traditional punk vocals that create an interesting mix. Emotion is expressed very well vocally. He can express sadness without sounding too whiney and anger without screaming his head off. It's very hard to compare Texas is the Reason to other bands, so I'm not even going to try. The way they sound is stated above, that's the best I can do. This band is far too good and unique to be copied.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great debut, March 27, 2007

This review is from: Texas Is the Reason (Audio CD)

Only 3 tracks but 3 decent tracks. They have much more of a 'raw' sound than on their album the 3rd track 'antique' realy standing out amongst them.

I know a lot of people prefered the album to the Ep but I feel that not only does this have that raw energy of a debut release but they seem to have a better ballance of the length of the tracks. I felt that some of the songs on the album just went on too long.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect, May 12, 2003

This ep is amazing in every way, just 3 songs but those 3 songs are better than most bands can muster in a whole album.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the all time greats, January 22, 2008
This review is from: Texas Is the Reason (Audio CD)
Like one reviewer said it doesnt have the best recording quality but somehow that adds to the mystique, what an amazing classic album. 3 songs of awsome. learn your roots, get this with Mineral's "the Power of Failing" and listen to it with someone who you've really been wanting to hold hands with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing EP, September 18, 2007
This review is from: Texas Is the Reason (Audio CD)
I feel that is is an exelent debut EP. Antique Is my personal favorite Texas is the reason song. Everthing about this album is great except for the fact that you pay ten dollars for three songs.Value aside these are three fantastic songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Sickest EP Ever, May 10, 2005
This review is from: Texas Is the Reason (Audio CD)
I've owned this record for about 10 years now, and it still ranks #1 among EPs in my music collection. The fact of the matter is it never gets old. It ages like wine. Only 2 of the songs on the LP even come close to what was achieved on this TITR EP - Nickelback and Jack with One Eye. Blueboy is arguably their best track ever, but can only be found on Jade Tree's Split 7 with the then young Promise Ring. And by the way, TITR were a phenomenal live act in their day. Give respect to one of the first HC Emo blends to get it right. In that genre, they're legends.

But once you ve got over the poor quality sound you realise this is nearly as good as the proper albumn. Antique has a fantastic slurry riff that sounds way trashyer compared to other titr songs and dressing cold starts over with a great emo as hell hook. This is essential for any music fan with good taste, but they really did evolve for "do you know who you are?"

5.0 out of 5 stars full of musical talent, April 20, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Texas Is the Reason (Audio CD)
Texas is the reason is one of the many bands that has not been recognized for what they possess. They possess the means to capture ones attention and keep it throughout the whole album. That is what they demonstrate on this album. It is definately a keeper.
