5.0 out of 5 stars Almost Famous, June 1, 2004

Jennifer Valentine (Atlanta, Georgia USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Texas Rocker (Audio CD)
Cal Valentine is my father, so of course I might be a little biased, but just a little. The musical talents of my father far exceeded those of "musicians" today. That is not only my opinion, but the opinion of all those who worked with him. The Texas Rocker came long overdue, but I'm glad it came. After all these years, daddy has released a CD. Unbelievable really. He had countless records under different band names, but nothing compared to The Texas Rocker.
I heard the album for the first time 8 years ago, and it only gets better with time. Each song represents emotions that we have all felt at one time or another, whether it be love, jealousy, or heartache. It will certainly take you back to a time when one if not all of those emotions had complete control over you.
I enjoyed the classics relived on this album, such as Rock Me Baby and I'm A Man. But the song that represents my father the most is Boogie Twist '94. Happy, energetic, unpredictable, . . . Cal Valentine at his best. This cut is sure to get you outta your seat every time.
I would describe The Texas Rocker, by Cal Valentine, as a classic yet original blues album. I am proud to be the daughter of a legend that was almost famous.

5.0 out of 5 stars She could not be more correct!!, July 11, 2006
This review is from: Texas Rocker (Audio CD)
I am so glad that I took a chance and bought this disc, it is fantastic. Cal Valentine is a true Texas blues master, and his daughter is very fortunate to have such a talented father.
Buy this disc!!... you will not be disapointed.
