Nikki has been waiting on Dillon to make a move on her since her divorce two years ago. She thinks he's interested in her, but not truly sure due to his lack of trying anything. So when her truck breaks down on the side of the road and he happens upon her, the sparks between them begin to fly.It started out great. It was just Nikki and Dillon, and I loved their chemistry and interaction with each other. The sex between them was always smoking hot, but it seemed as if Dillon was more into Nikki than she was into him. With that being said, Dillon still proposed to her, and I could see them getting married, having a family, the whole nine yards. This it where things start to shift and Brett enters the picture. Even before the menage, Brett and Nikki's relationship seemed more than just friendship. Once they did agree that Nikki should date both men and make a choice between them, I felt Dillon got the short end of the stick. I just kept reading about how Brett had this horrible childhood while Dillon's childhood was all roses and sunshine, that it seemed like the author was trying to make Brett the obvious winner of the girl because of his rough childhood. Nikki came across as having feelings for Dillon and being fond of him, but I felt that she was more in love and drawn to Brett. I just kept waiting for Nikki to choose Brett throughout much of the book. Dillon was more of a voyeur of Nikki and Brett's relationship instead of an active participant, which is most obvious during the sex. Although during one sex scene, it seemed that there was some kind of slightly intimate connection between Brett and Dillon; the author just touched on it and didn't explore it. Although they did make it a permanent menage, I still felt as if Dillon should have removed himself from the situation and found someone who could love him fully. Overall, this was a REALLY HOT read and I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.

Scorching Hot Read,

Originally posted at: [...]Wanted by two men when society says only one can have you... what do you do? Find yourself in a Texas Tangle. I love a book with a sassy, saucy heroine. Texas Tangle delivers the goods. Leah Braemel's storytelling drew me in from page one and kept me riveted in my seat until the last word. I felt like I was right there with Brett, Dillon, and Nikki. It was like I was reading about my dear friends and going through the struggles with them. Nikki is a great heroine. She's been through hell, but she manages to come out on the other side with grace and pluck. Yes, there are times when she could succumb to the `woe is me' feelings, but she doesn't totally. I liked that she was willing to admit what her heart wanted, even when she wasn't in complete agreement. Dillon and Brett are forces to reckon with. Both have magnetic personalities and both could be the one she needs. I liked the care they showed to help her believe in human-kind once again. I also liked the humility both exerted when it came to letting Nikki decide who she wanted to love. I closed this book, having laughed, cried, sighed and smiled. Plus the three of them together is really hot. I had to check the screen for singe marks. If you want a story that will stick with you long after the last page, then you need to read Texas Tangle. I give it 4 cherries.

Nikki Kimball has just been robbed. As if her life wasn't bad enough, she comes home to find out her brother has left and her house is empty. She thought what her ex-husband did to her was heartbreaking, but the fact that she was swindled by family leaves her aching. Thank goodness she has Dillon Barnett - he has been a rock she can lean on...a very sexy one. Dillon has told Nikki more than once that she is welcome to be with him as long as she needs. It goes without saying that he is hoping she stays because the longer he is with her, the more he cares about her. And the best thing? His foster brother, Brett Anderson feels the same way. Now all they have to do is convince Nikki to take a chance on them.Goodness gracious, but wow. Texas Tangle by Leah Braemel is one hot western ménage! Both male heroes are lean, loyal, and smoking hot. Their treatment of Nikki and the love they have for her shows in every touch and breath they take. The love scenes sizzle on each and every page. For a truly great ménage read, Texas Tangle is the book for you. I couldn't get enough of it and had to read it twice, okay - three times! Talia Reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed

Texas Tangle by Leah Braemel* I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review* Nikki has been put down and verbally abused all her life while her parents continually bailed her brother out of trouble. Now they are not speaking to Nikki because the police are after her brother for stealing everything from her that wasn't nailed down. She didn't have much after her cheating ex-husband took off but what she had she had worked hard for. Dillon has been in love with Nikki since high school and he is determined to date her now that her ex-husband is out of the picture. Little did he know things would combust when he stopped to rescue her the night her truck broke down. He convinced Nikki to move in with him and asked Brett to help protect her. He didn't realize that Brett was also in love with her. Brett wants Nikki with all his heart but feels he's doing the right thing by stepping back and letting Dillon "have his turn" with her. Instead of Nikki having to choose between them, they come up with a solution they can all live with, thanks to grandma. This story is special in so many ways. The inner struggles that each of the characters have to deal with is enough to break your heart. Nikki lacks self confidence from everything she has been through and it's really nice to see her grown into the woman she was meant to be. Dillon feels guilty over the fight he and Brett had 10 years ago and can't forgive himself for how he reacted to the situation. Brett is also dealing with guilt over the same situation but he is also dealing with the fact that not only did he lose Dillon for a period of time, he lost the only family he had ever known. Watching the struggles that Brett and Dillon go through after realizing they are both in love with Nik pulls you in and grabs you tight. Dillon realizes that he wouldn't mind seeing her with Brett and in fact it turns him on. The whole fantasy of a threesome scares him though because he thinks there is something wrong with him. In this story there are so many issues that real people can relate to, which makes the story mean that much more to the reader. Everyone has had to deal with someone always putting them down or being verbally abusive. The physical abuse is sad and no one likes to see anyone abused, especially not a child. The insecurities, doubt, hope, love and other emotions are things we all deal with on a daily basis. Texas Tangle is another impressive story from Carina Press and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I give this story 4 flaming hearts.

Texas Tangle by Leah Braemel,
This review is from: Texas Tangle (Kindle Edition)
Dillon Barnett comes from a very close knit Texan family. Even his foster-brother Brett has always felt at home. Rescued from an extremely abusive father as a child, Brett has grown up as a close brother to Dillon. They have definitely had their bumps along the way though. In high school, they both lusted after the same girl, Nikki Kimball, and although Brett shared a night of kissing with her, as adults, Dillon is the one to make a move towards romance.Nikki suffered years of a verbally abusive marriage, and still suffers from verbally abusive parents. Now divorced, she took Phil, her brother in, in hopes that he can move past his criminal youth and make a life for himself. Nikki's truck breaks down and Dillon just happens upon her. Her night is about to go from possibly a little action with Dillon to catastrophe. Nikki comes home to find herself robbed of all possessions, and Phil no where to be found. He also takes off with her money, leaving Nikki with nothing. Dillon offers her a place to stay at his house, and they both want to explore the physical side of their lust. It doesn't get past Brett that his foster-brother Dillon and best friend Nikki definitely have something going on, and Brett feels left out. Brett feels like he owes Dillon his life for practically saving him from his abusive father, so he would never do anything to break apart the special thing happening between them. But he can't help but wonder what it would have been like if he was the one who had come across Nikki in her broken down truck. Soon, though, he may get a taste of what it is to love this woman, even if he has to share. I have a little rule when it comes to a ménage - brothers should not see each other with hard-ons. Texas Tangle features two foster brothers, not related by blood in any way, so this passes the test for me. I also say you can't just throw three people together and have some nakey time and expect the reader to fall for it. Leah Braemel really works in the back story, giving us Dillon and Brett, who are very close, yet have young adult drama that have driven them so far apart in the past. Nikki knows them both growing up, and now that her drama has ended with her ex-husband, she is at the perfect spot in her life for something new. At the end, I believed in this trio. I didn't love that many accepted a threesome so easily. His mother and others were rooting for the three of them to get together. It all seemed a bit too easy on the family end. However, Nikki, along with Dillon and Brett don't take the choice easily. They really spend so much of the book analyzing and really making sure this is the right choice for all of them and consequently, their relationship comes across very mature. Although I think you do have to give a bit over to the fantasy side. I mean - two really hot dudes that worship just this one girl? But hey, isn't that why we read these books? Best of all, their sex scenes are smokin'. Brett doesn't make an appearance in the bedroom until after the halfway mark, and by the time he shows up, I was READY. Brett is a quiet man, but such a dirty, dirty boy. Leah Braemel gives us plenty of hot scenes and I really enjoyed them. Texas Tangle is an erotic ménage that worked for me. I will definitely be checking out more from Leah Braemel. |
