3.0 out of 5 stars Not quite worth 4 stars. Exasperating read!
From the reviews I've read, many readers have enjoyed this book. As they say, not everyone has the same taste, life would otherwise be boring.

Emma Hayes has traveled the world and done many things but her heart longs to be planted in one place and have a real family. Travis Taylor is now a doctor but he also longs for a family as memories of Emma Hayes haunt his mind.

When Emma adopts twin girls from an orphanage she takes up residence in a house her parents own in Galveston. She also remembers Travis Taylor whom she once loved but her parents whisked her away before she could carry it any further. Sure that he is no long there she settles in and makes an appointment for the girls to see a doctor. Can you imagine her surprise when Dr. Travis Taylor walks into the room to examine the girls. Emma is shocked.

They both realize that their feelings are still strong but with issues of the past and so much time in between neither are sure how to handle the situation. Throw in Travis's girlfriend, Emma's ex-fiance and a crooked judge and you have a whirlwind story...Texas style. This was an endearing story with many memorable characters.

From the reviews I've read, many readers have enjoyed this book. As they say, not everyone has the same taste, life would otherwise be boring.

Emma comes back to a small town in Texas with her two to be adopted daughters. She takes them to see a local doctor and finds that he is none other than her old boyfriend Travis. The reason they stopped dating is because she moved away with her parents who enjoyed traveling around the world, without even warning him.

Travis and Emma find that they are still very attracted to one another and while Travis is very interested in picking up where they left off, Emma keeps pulling back. That itself is what annoyed me. The poor doctor does everything he can to please this girl and she keeps pulling back from him. I am not giving anything away as you will find this very early on. It goes on and on. Emma encounters problems with the adoption and while Travis is there for her she continues to pull back. I got sick of it. While he tried to distance himself he always finds himself in that old pattern trying again and again....and again. Be done with her Travis! .... is what I thought. Anyhow while the ending was good it was so incredibly rushed that I actually turned the page and was shocked it was over.

Maybe it's because I've read several really good books just prior to this one that I'm not happy but for me, it was mediocre at best... glad I didn't spend much on this e-book. I won't give up on the author however but if her next book is written in this same pattern, I'm done.

Bonnie writes another moving story of good triumphing over evil. This time influential people attempt to take her adopted children and her old romance with a doctor is rekindled. A great read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another good book by Bonnie Blythe, September 6, 2009
This review is from: Texas Whirlwind (Paperback)
This author is becoming one of my favorites. The story is about Emma Hayes who has returned to the town she had stayed in the longest growing up with parents who traveled everywhere. She now has 2 recently adopted girls from Haiti. When she gets to town and takes them for their doctor's visit she has no idea that their doctor will be her old high school love, Travis. Once they meet its obvious they both still have feelings for each other, but Emma is a little stubborn about allowing anything more than friendship. Good job again Bonnie Blythe!

5.0 out of 5 stars Batten Down the Hatches for a Great Read!, August 27, 2008

Emma Hayes has no idea of the storm she's about to encounter in Galveston, Texas--one that has nothing to do with the approaching hurricane off the gulf. Fresh from a broken engagement, Emma finds herself in Galveston along with her newly adopted Haitian twin daughters. Seeking medical attention for her girls at a family practice clinic, Emma is shocked when the attending doctor turns out to be the high-school sweetheart she abandoned over fourteen years ago. Travis Taylor originally pursued medicine as an attempt to impress Emma's well-to-do parents, but of course that was before she broke his heart. Not exactly a happy reunion. Emma is stubborn and determined to make it on her own against the odds, and Travis is once again exasperated by her hard-headed independence. But all that changes when her daughters' adoption is suddenly in jeopardy.

Bonnie Blythe's fast-paced story of a romance caught up in a storm of complications is a smart portrayal on learning to trust again, even when the winds of doubt surround us. Pick up a copy of Texas Whirlwind then batten down the hatches for a great read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Texas Whirlwind, May 4, 2009

This review is from: Texas Whirlwind (Paperback)
Emmaline Hayes has just arrived back in Galveston where she had spent a year when she was in HS, and had fell in love with Travis, but Emma's parents were the type to never settle down so they roamed the world with Emma along with them. She went to school some and had some jobs along the way but could never be satified with any untill she went to Hatti to help in an orphanage and fell in love with a set of baby twin girls. She adopted them and though everything was fine until a couple from NY had seen the babies pictures on the internet and wanted the twins. The orphanage had failed to remove the pictures when Emma got them so the couple started a court order to get them away from Emma who was a single woman that had just broken up with a no account man that didn't want the babies, he was out for her inheriance. Travis was a doctor in Galveston and when Emma carried the babies to the doctor upon arrival they found out they still had feeling for each other since HS, so Travis dropped his girlfriend, so she and Emma's ex got together and made things ever harder for Emma and the twins. The book is great and I really enjoyed it.
I must say though that I don't believe in by-racial families, it is always a heart break for the children.
