Trouble just seems to follow Darvi . . . .,
By Elizabeth Merry (Moran, MI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Texas Sky (A Yellow Rose Trilogy #2) (Paperback)
But Dakota is always there to get her out of it.Darvi is eager to see her old friend, Merry, to tell of her new found faith in Christ. Dakota, a Texas Ranger, agrees to see her out to her friends home and then to the train station. On the way to the train they encounter many obstacles but the biggest is when Darvi is mistaken for a newspaper reporter and is abducted. Even after her abductors realize their mistake, one of them, Seth, decides to keep her and marry her. I thought this was an excellent book. With Dakota and Darvi both struggling to understand their new faith, they seemed like real people. I definitely would recommend this book, especially if you are a Lori Wick fan.

Excellent book and One of my favorite series!,

I loved this book and the first book in the series, Every Little Thing About You. I have read many of Lori Wick's books and thought this one was every bit as good as the others I've read. I originally checked this book out from the library and read it. After reading it, I decided to purchase this whole series so that I can read it again whenever I want. I was quite surprised to read some of the negative reviews that are listed for this series. I guess it's just a matter of taste...lol

Somewhat Disappointed,

I love Lori Wick. Her books were the first Christian romances I read. In fact "Every Little Think About You" was the first Christian romance I read. Her Rock Mountain series sealed my love for her books. However, I was somewhat disappointed in "A Texas Sky". Dakota's character seemed to miss the same spunk it had in the first book and Darvi's character was not as rounded as some of the other characters in other Lori Wick books. The book, I thought, was to be about how Dakota and Darvi came together, but only the last part of the book was dedicated to that. And I hated the ending, it just ended. I am looking forward to the third book but with hopes there will be more story to it. More to the capabilities I have come to love about a Lori Wick novel.

Not as great as I thought.,

I, for one, am disapointed in Lori Wick's newest book. It was too wordy and the plot was way out of focus. It was nice to now that Slater and Liberty were doing good. But to have Dakota not being as spontanious as in the first book kind of sparks the character out of him. This book was dull, and slow pacing. I would recomend reading her Kensington Chronicles instead of reading this book. Maybe on her third book she'll do so much better.

This is my favorite of this series. Trouble just seems to find Darvi where ever she goes, and Dakota is always there to make things right again. An excellent Book!

ONE OF MY FAVS!!!,
This review is from: A Texas Sky (A Yellow Rose Trilogy #2) (Book 2) (Paperback)
Whoever didn't give this book a THUMBS UP was crazy. I loved it! I kinda cheated and started on this book before the first one, but it didn't say much about Slater or Liberty so I knew I wasn't in trouble. I would SO recommend this to ANY TEEN GIRL!!! Anyway, Dakota Rawlings has been shot five times. Knowing that the end has come, or thinking it has, he lives and turns is eye toward God, and becomes a good religious Texas Ranger. But, Brace, his boss, doesn't want Dakota back in his Ranger business until he has fully healed, in other words, six months. Dakota gets really bored, and decides to be the guide and escort of Darvi Wingate, Brace's niece. She wants to leave Austin and visit her friend in Stillwater. But, the pretty and sweet Darvi has a knack for followers, or trouble. She gets captured by some men by mistake even! Well, there's always sweet and handsome and protective Dakota, who does absolutely everything he can to keep Darvi saffe. Then they fall in love. This book kept my nose glued between the pages, and so you can imagine how hard it was to set it down for good. read

I think that this is by far one of Lori Wick's greatest books. I love the way that she is able to write a romance and yet still center it around God. The Yellow Rose Trilogy is certainly a must read for anyone who enjoys Christian Romances.

Texas Sky was not the five stars I expected,

I love Lori Wick books. Pretense is my favorite but all her characters are unique and wonderful. Every Little Think about You was a little different then all her other books but at least the relationship between Slater and Liberty was suspenseful. Darvi and Dakota were boring to me and I would have liked to see more interaction, more of a connection. Still, Lori Wick is by far my favorite author.

Not a page turner!,

After a long wait, I finally was able to purchase and read the second book in the trilogy. I was somewhat disappointed. I read the reviews here and noticed one reviewed it and had not even read the book yet. Well, I read it and can say that it is very choppy and wordy. Not Wick's normal standards. I didn't see any romance or even care if Darvi and Dakota got together. I would love to see the passion and romance that were in the Kensington Chronicles and her other series. I fell asleep each night trying to reading it, but since it is part of the series I'll wait another year for the third book. I was really disappointed to not have any new news on Slater and Liberty. I guess the next one is about Cash, hopefully Lori will be back on track.

Handsome Christian Texas Ranger To The Rescue!,

Lots of action in this historical, western adventure/romance. This was a fun, romantic adventure, with even a little mystery thrown in,but I could only give it 3 stars, because some of the language was way too modern(ie quite a little piece of baggage"!
Plus I did not like that the author made an issue of the heroine Darvi Wingate being able by her witness to make Cassie see that she needed to stop living in sin with her live-in boyfriend Eliot, yet not a word was said about Cassie should not marry Eliot because he was an unbeliever,(so she would be unequally yoked)even though that was an issue in the past for both the hero Dakota Rawlings and the heroine Darvi Wingate! Plus nothing was said about Cassie's need to repent for the sin of fornication for the several years that she and Eliot had been shacking-up! As though, just getting married would wipe away those sinful years, and make everything alright between Cassie and God!Unconfessed/unrepented sin in a believer's life, has eternal consequences!I am disappointed that the author did not make a point of that. |
