I absolutely loved this book and recommend it to every sci-fi person I know. The author is excellent and the story for this small book (around 120 pages) is well done. A fascinating story of the planet TEXAS taking over the rest of the decadent and dying human-dominated galaxy: very well done indeed!

Gloriously silly -- one of my favorite obscure books,

Texians take on the Galactic Empire! See the wonderful Blink drive, invented by Billy Bob Blink! Ride a bucking airors [1], roundup those meacrs (sp? = meat critters) Great fun, probably Zachary's [2] best. Actually quite a number of his appealingly pulpy space-operas have a Western feel, & are under-appreciated. All long OOP but not too hard to find. But start with "For Texas and Zed". It's spectacular. Read on, pard -- "Pistol Pete" Tillman [1] Think of a flying Ski-doo, generally steered with one hand, with a cold Lone Star in the other. [2] "Zach Hughes" is Hugh Zachary's pulp pseudonym. |
