5.0 out of 5 stars Great Kids Tent
We picked up 2 of these for a couple of 10-year old boys that were a bit annoying to tent with ("Why is there sand everywhere?", "Which of you hooligans left the door open?", "Why am I sleeping in kool-aid?", "Whose underwear are on my pillow?"). They now each have their own tent! They love it, and we are all much happier. The boys sometimes set the tents up in the...

3.0 out of 5 stars The good and the bad
I bought this tent because of it's lightweight and small enough to fit in my back pack - it measures out to 17 & 1/2" long X 5" wide X 5" depth when broken down and in the bag - this was the main selling point for me because similarly sized tents at this weight and size can be very expensive. That being said there are a few things I don't like about the tent, first of...

The boys sometimes set the tents up in the yard, just for fun...and camping in their own tent has really taught them a lot of responsibility.

The zippers, material, and overall quality are not great, but for twenty biguns I won't be upset when they finally get destroyed. We have about 10 nights using them so far, and no serious problems (one zipper never worked quite right). The poles are actually really light aluminum, and quite study. The tents have little ventilation though, so they heat up fast inside (and get moist if you close the door).

I highly recommend this tent for a childs first tent. I turned the strings into loops, so the boys can more easily hook the ropes where they need to, and set it up for them once. Since then, they have been doing fine on their own. The tent even fits easily into the bag, and they can both do it (sometimes they need an adult to help squish the air out or pull up a stuck stake).

2 people will be cramped, 1 will be fine. You will want to leave the door and tiny window open so you don't build up moisture (which will make you more cold than leaving it open). Also, you might not want to use the side tie-downs. They cause the tent to sag in the middle. We loosely attach them to something, so they only come into play during a gust of wind.

Overall, a great first tent, simple to set up, sturdy, and an excellent value.

I bought this tent because of it's lightweight and small enough to fit in my back pack - it measures out to 17 & 1/2" long X 5" wide X 5" depth when broken down and in the bag - this was the main selling point for me because similarly sized tents at this weight and size can be very expensive. That being said there are a few things I don't like about the tent, first of all while it does have a zipper on the mesh bug guard on the front door, the outer door (the one that might keep out rain) does not, it simply has strings sewn into each flap that you can tie it shut with - which I'm pretty sure wouldn't keep out a heavy rain. Also while the top part of the tent seems decently constructed the floor seems a little cheap, like it would rip pretty easily. I also noticed quite a bit of condensation on the inner roof of the tent after a nights sleep, but I live in a pretty humid climate so not everyone may have this problem. On the flip side it was very easy and quick to set-up and tear down, light and compact but I don't know if I would trust it on a long hiking or backpacking trip. Other than a few minor inconveniences and design flaws on the manufactures part not a horrible tent, especially for the money, but not a great one either.

I also uploaded some pictures just so you can get an idea of it's size and what comes in the bag

Took this tent to the Grand Canyon. Easy set-up and take down, roomy enough for 2 people, got rained on and didn't leak. Nice little tent.

the quality is not bad. The top is made out of nylon, the bottom is made from tarp like material. The main problem I see is the pole support system. The tent has holes on top for the poles. The part of the pole that goes there is made out of plastic- fragile in my opinion. On the bottom there is no special space for the poles to go. You just have to put them on the floor of the tent- might damage the floor material from the pressure. Th

nice tent for the kids. Easy to set up and store. Only problem was the center poles moved out of position easily. The kids sometimes knocked it down climbing in and out. Great because they could set it up on their own with a little assistance. Big enough for a twin air matress, but nothing else.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent Cheap Tent, June 16, 2009

Judging from of my limited use of this tent, it is excellent for the price. I do have a few complaints against it: You could probably fit two adults who are in good shape inside it, but if you do this, don't expect to fit any gear you have with you. This isn't really an issue for me, though, because I bought it to use by myself. That said, it is a bit difficult to set up with only one person, but not impossible, and like with most things, the more times you set it up, the easier it seems to become.

Construction wise, it seems like its put together well. When I used it, the weather was nice so I can't comment on the water proofing or how well it will insulate, but it kept the bugs and wind out. My biggest complaint, however, is the ropes. When set up with the ropes that came with it, it seemed very unstable (not being able to stand against a stiff breeze unstable). Before even using it I replaced these with 5/50 cord and with this the tent stood much better. The stakes are typical cheep stakes that will bend after a few uses in harder/rockier ground, so you may want to also invest in more durable stakes if you camp in an area where that's an issue.

I'm overall pleased with the tent, however. I wasn't expecting much, for the price, but its a hardy little tent. Great value.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good cheap tent, May 5, 2011

My wife and I bought this tent for 3 nights of camping at a 3 different campsites in Fl. When I received the tent I set it up and put on a coat of camp dry spray. I noticed right away that the stakes and guylines were not great quality but would probably work for most purposes. For our little trip I replaced the tent stakes with aluminum gutter stakes and guylines with paracord and off we went. We had no problems with the tent throughout the trip, but there was no rain so I'm not really able to comment on the waterproofing. Overall the tent was easy to set up, light weight, inexpensive, slept both of us comfortably, and of decent quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good for the price, April 1, 2011

This tent is excellent IF you seal the seams. Most high quality tents come with their seams already sealed, this one does not. Just buy some tent sealant from your local sporting good store and a few hours later you have a water tight backpacking tent.

I have used this on several backpacking excursions. It has worked well, even in a thunderstorm. There is plenty of room for one person, but cramped for two. My wife and I shared the tent on one trip and it was cozy. If I was with another man, I would have definately been cramped.

This tent will breath well if you leave the window in the back rolled up and one side of the front door open. Otherwise you'll wake up with a bunch of condensation. I use this is dry Idaho though, my climate may be different from yours.

Love that it is only three pounds!

4.0 out of 5 stars Super and Lightweight LIttle Tent, March 25, 2011

I bought this little tent because I wanted a really lightweight tent that also had a little room for my packs, boots, etc. and expecially had mosquito netting. This is an easy to set up tent, room for two easily or one, some gear and a big dog. I reduced the weight even more by using treking poles for the supports or you can tie it to trees. Can't beat it for the price and seems pretty durable, do seal those seams though.

No bells or whistles here, but it's lite weight and takes up little space in the pack. If this is too much for you to carry than your sleeping without a shelter.
