One propane tank lasts about 7 hours. I used it ice fishing twice (8x8 tent) and we all had to take off our hats, gloves, and jackets in the tent. Tents aren't perfectly insulated so I don't think the CO is an issue. I also used this tailgating in a dual tent (2 10x10 tents) next to a Mr. Heater. This out performed the Mr. Heater. First, the handle on the Mr. Heater is cheap plastic and broke after the second use. A simple bump and it turns off. It also rips through propane in 3-4 hours. Then there is the test of which one is hotter. The hand test showed they were both about the same. Everyone was warm enough to remove layers in the tent.

Overall, this heater wins. It's cheap, simple metal construction, easy to carry/move, lasts long and most importantly, puts out heat.

As of 4/13/10 I have used this heater about ten times.I use it in my basement workshop near my work bench. The basement is a little cool in the winter so I decided a small heater is a good thing.I would not recommend using a propane heater of this type indoors. You should shut down this heater if you leave the room.Never leave this heater unattended.Of course I always live a bit on the risk taking side of life,so I'm ok with heating devices.I have read some comments that are on the negative end, saying the heater will not stay lit.Looking at the construction of this heater ,I will have to say that the thermocouple is the weak point. The heater is a simple design and should be easy to repair.I believe there is a 5 year warranty so why worry .

I bought this heater 3 months ago and it worked fine at first. I had used it about 20-30 times when it began decreasing in its heat output until only the high setting would keep the unit running (the thermocouple would not sense enough heat on the med and lo settings). Not wanting to deal with the hassle of sending it back and having some experience with these things I accessed the main jet and carefully cleaned it and the threaded chamber it's in, reassembled but to no avail. Same sluggish operation. Long story short, I disassembled deeper into the unit being careful but in the end, I scrounged some parts off another heater and got it working properly. This is an example of another pc. of huooey from China. Too bad, it's the only heater like it out there that I know of...appropriate for certain tasks.
12/21/2014 update: I've bought another unit since the first one and to the credit of Texsport, I called them and asked for a new actual burner (at the base of the radiation reflector) for this unit to replace the original and he sent me a new one for free. I have not had any problem with decreased output with this second heater

Ordering through Amazon.com was very easy and quick. The heater actually arrived several days earlier than I was expecting it. It arrived in perfect condition and well packaged with excellent instructions and inspection labels on the parts. I connected it to a standard propane bottle, followed the instructions for lighting it, and it worked perfectly. I have used it several times with no problems. As an aside, I am also using it as a prop in a school drama with my 7 year old grandson. He is playing the part of Dr. Robert Goddard, and the drama is about Goddard's perfecting the first liquid fuel rocket. We will use the heater as a "breadboard" rocket motor during one of the scenes. We will disguise it to look like a rocket motor on a test stand. The actual rocket launch in a later scene is performed with a 2-liter bottle and an air compressor and water, a design we got from NASA.

I found the heater while searching for a replacement heating element for my older similar unit originally sold by American Camper that has none of the extra features this unit has (thermocouple, heat settings, flip-out stabilizers on the base). I purchased this unit and contacted Texsport to try to buy an additional heating element for my old heater since theirs appeared to be identical based on the photo. They advised me that their heating element would not work on my heater, but after exchanging a few emails with them, they sent me a heating element. I had to place an adapter between the new heating element and the discharge tube on my old heater since my old heating element had a male fitting to mate with the female fitting on the discharge tube, and the new heating element has a female fitting, but after connecting the new heating element, I lit it, and it works just like new again.

It worked great at first in my ice shack. It would get louder during certain times and then quiet again, all of a sudden it got really loud and started spitting flames! I shut it off but it kept going and flaming, i threw it out of the shack and it eventually went off. I wont use it again.

We used this in the front part of our horse trailer, where we had a bed and dressing room, while camping. It heated up the small space quickly. Works great.

This heater works a lot better than I had hoped due to the rather inexpensive price. It heats my golf cart quickly and adequately. I highly recommend it.

Having tried it out now for a few weeks, it has performed as advertised. In retrospect, I should have gone with a larger unit to fit me needs. But it does work well.
