Very easy to set up and take down.

One other added benefit of the cot over say a plush, padded sleeping bag, or even an air mattress, is that a cot keeps you off the ground when you are sleeping.

A few months ago the cot arrived in time for our son to use it when we had guests staying. It was quick to put together and worked as advertised. The material was a bit too tight when first assembled but loosened adequately (not too much) after the first night of sleeping on it. We then had another occasion to use it this Thanksgiving with more guests in the house. Unfortunately the cot material ripped along one of the sides. It wasn't unusable, just ripped and probably going to get worse with time. I took photos and sent it off to customer service expecting not much to come of it frankly. Within an hour we had a company representative asking for our mailing address in order to mail us a new cot. My reaction was simply Wow. No questions. No accusations. No disclaimers. Just a quick and friendly email asking us how quickly they could make it right. A class act that made me write my first review on Amazon.

The cot is extremely comfortable to sleep in. I am 68 years old and I never have trouble falling asleep on the cot.

It also folds up easy for storage.

Easy to set up, sturdy, and comfortable. I am very pleased with this cot, and a bargain to boot! When I saw the weight limit at 250 lbs. I had my doubts since I "approach" that weight, and with blankets. sleeping bags, etc., the total probably goes over, but I had no problems. I did have some anxiety the first time I used it on an unlevel tent floor, since it looks like that can overstress the legs. Now I try to find the most level spot I can, and try not to set it up directly in line with a slope, because there is no bracing in that direction. In the cabin it was solid as a rock, and slept better than my bed at home.

First off, I only purchased the Texsport Deluxe Folding Camp Cot about a month ago but I have already racked up four nights of sleep on it and I feel like that is enough to render a detailed opinion on the product, at least with regards to things other than longevity.

So the thing I noticed first about the cot was that it really does seem quite sturdy. I was originally torn between purchasing this cot and a different one from a local retailer that was listed for only like thirty bucks or so, but obviously ended up going with the Texsport. I knew within days of my purchase that I had made the right choice - I was out camping with a couple of friends and I brought my Texsport Cot while two of my friends brought their less expensive cots. As soon as we all unpacked the cots, I could tell that mine was of much greater quality than the ones my friends had brought. My cot was much heftier (in a good way - not bulky or unnecessarily heavy, just sturdy) than theirs and while I'm no expert on metals or welds or anything, it was clear that my cot was much stronger and would hold more weight than my friends cots. I know the listed weight limit of the cot is 250 lbs, but I weigh around 170, and I felt like the cot could have held another one of me and been fine.

The second majorly important thing for me with the cot was its length. I stand approx. 6'2" and I was worried about whether or not the cot would be long enough or if my feet and ankles would be totally hanging off. I am pleased to say that I fit on the cot just fine. Its listed length is 75" or 6'3" and I've had numerous experiences with other products from other companies that advertise certain lengths for stuff but that do not meet those stated #'s but that was not the case with Texsport.

INITIAL REVIEW, AFTER SLEEPING ON IT FOR A LITTLE OVER A WEEK

Right after I received this cot, I slept on it for a week with a sleeping bag. Of course, I bought it because it got great reviews on Amazon, and the price seemed very good. After a week on it, I have much to report.

Positives

+ Best for Back Sleepers: If you sleep on your back, you will find this cot quite comfortable. I mostly sleep on my back and side normally, and I found that this cot was most comfortable when I slept on my back. Think of a hammock. The ballistic nylon material on this cot seems to support you similarly. You don't often see people lying on their sides in hammocks. In fact, I never see anybody lying in a hammock. But I digress.

+ Easy to Set Up: My wife set it up for the first time when I was at work. She reported that it was simple to set up.

+ Very Stable: While lying on the cot, it feels very solid and stable. There is no movement of the cot itself when I move around on it.

Negatives

- Not Quite Long Enough: I am 6'1", and I think this cot could be just a couple of inches longer. As it stands, even when I put my head basically at the top of the cot, my feet touch the end, which is not the best for comfort.

- Not for Side or Stomach Sleepers: The hammock-like effect of this cot makes it not-so-good for people who don't like to sleep on their backs all night. I tried to sleep on my side a couple of times, and it just was not comfortable.

- A Little Creaky: If you are sleeping near others and get out of the cot in the night, they will likely hear the cot creaking as you get up/down. This isn't ideal, but it isn't too bad.
