Great Tent!!!,

This review is from: Texsport Phoenix 3 Season Tent (Sports)
Now this is what I call a 3-season tent! It has aluminum poles, & the rain fly is fitted and goes the whole way to the ground (You should see what some retailers call a 3-season tent). It was very easy to set up & take down. I am 4'10" and I left the directions (not very detailed but I have found that all tent directions are not very detailed)at home by mistake but was still able do it by myself. There was plenty of room for 2 people and a medium sized dog. Only setback is that a queen size mattress would not fit, but a twin would. The lines follow that of the mummy sleeping bags. There are two huge doors in the rain fly that match up exactly to the two doors (one on either side for easy entry & exit of both occupants) in the tent. There are two separate mesh doors with their own zippers that are the whole size of the doors. There is also a mesh top which allows for easy stargazing. It is the only mesh portion which does not have its own separate zipper cover, but is covered by the rain fly. With these three huge mesh areas, it is very ventilated for those warm summer nights, but with the full coverage rain fly and zipper doors, this tent has almost two entire layers to keep you warm on those cold fall nights. There is a taped seam on the floor and there is one taped seam on the rain fly. This tent folds up to be very small, compact & lightweight, thus would also make a terrific backpacking tent for 2 people(& a dog!).

Tent is not waterproof,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Texsport Phoenix 3 Season Tent (Sports)
initially i gave 4 stars to this product. i thought that it would be waterproof. the only issue then seemed to be shape of the tent which did not allow to place it on a small area. but since it turned out to let water in from both - top and bottom - i couldn't give it more than 3 stars.
now the pros and cons pros: 1. the tent is roomy. even 4 people may sleep in it in emergency. Although the foot part of the tent is narrower than the head part, therefore occupants' feet will be placed tightly in this part and inevitebly touch one another. 2. it seems durable which is very important for effective use of this tent. in backcountry u cannot be always careful with the tent, especially in mountains or when u set up tent at night... 3. aluminium poles are very nice cons: 1. the tent is not waterproof unfortunately. it can stand only very light and not longlasting rains. if it occurs to appear in heavy or longlasting rain, it will let water in. TOO BAD:( 2.the tent is too big. i needed something more compact. it is very high for me... if i needed that much comfort i wouldn't go hiking/mountaineering. it's not that i seek discomfort... but such a big tent will cause issues in wind notwithstanding the alimunium poles. I know that it will.. it will be hard to retain rainfly in strong winds.... were the tent a little bit lower the problem would have been removed probably... 3. i think dome type two poles tent is better than this one... three poles tent is too heavy... also the big size of tent adds its lbs-s. it will not be easy to carry such tent 4. it won't be easy to place this tent anywhere u like.. u will have to find a place with enough area to set the tent up on it. |
