I have this textbook as well as volume 1 and the minute volume 3 is released, later in the year, I will have that one too. This book is really great, straight and true Ayurveda with no "extra stuff" and all the knowledge Dr. Lad generally packs into his books. They are also easy to read which makes learning Ayurveda easier.

this book gets into a lot of far out stuff that are not commonly associated with ayurveda. I am into the food and the Doschas but this book spends a lot of time on things like determining your condition by things such as....reading your face or your eyes. Reading your pulse. Mamry points (similar to acupuncture) and a lot more. Every subject that I tried to find in the index was not there. I could not find the simplest words in the index such as "constipation" or Triphala. And many others...the index is terrible. Some of it is written in Sanskrit so unless you are familiar with that it is really hard to navigate. It does not give details of how to assess, it just gives the facts and is not very useful in determining what the condition is.
