As someone who works in alternative health, I can say that my company's staff finds this book indispensible. Our office copy is continually being passed from hand to hand as a resource and reference. It IS expensive, but for the value we get out of it, I'd pay the money again--in fact I'm going to, because I originally came to the page to order a second copy for the office and felt I needed to respond to the one poor review that was posted. It's not representative of the product--it's representative of the PUBLISHER, and if we were all to critique publishers, well, we'd be here a while, wouldn't we? Bottom line is that you get the value you pay for with this book.

This textbook is a wealth of information. The forms in the back are thorough and offer any nutrition practitioner some practical, usable tools for assessment purposes. The chapters are thorough and pull no punches - they look at the evidence and communicate it to the reader in a very logical way. There is no reliance on antiquated perspectives in health and nutrition, here. Some of the chapters are very detailed (mediators of inflammation, for instance) and, if you're like me, you'll need read this material SEVERAL times. I highly recommend this book and it should be referenced, often.
