Does anyone know why this app is not compatible with the Kindle Fire? I know that The Old Schoolhouse was developing in app for the Kindle Fire...is this it or is there another one coming? Help!

UPDATE 3/28/12: The app is now working on the Kindle Fire! It works great!

What We Liked:

As always, The Old Schoolhouse Magazine includes practical encouragement, insights into learning styles, teaching approaches, curriculum reviews, advertisements (I actually love the ads - they're a great way to find new resources), unit studies, and plenty of inspiration.

In all honesty - I liked the idea of a digital edition before, but the apps make it SO easy to actually read the magazine - reading from a computer screen is hard for me, but reading from my phone or on the iPad is easy, portable, and gets done! I also don't lose my magazine as often when my children carry it off! And I really, really like getting a monthly dose of homeschooling encouragement for free! Now that the magazine is solely digital you'll also find a stronger emphasis on integrating technology into your homeschool, including monthly articles on apps! If you're a tech-savvy (or hoping to be) homeschooling parent or grandparent, then this is definitely the homeschooling magazine for you!

What We Didn't Like:

This app does require WiFi to access the issues (this is pretty unavoidable though - I'm so glad to have our WiFi back!), and the Android version doesn't let you save the issues to an external memory card.

Overall:

The much-loved Old Schoolhouse Magazine is now available for free, in a handy, practical digital edition that is served up directly to the free app of your choice (available in several operating system platforms). This app has made it onto my `no-brainer' list of apps to have loaded on my devices, it just makes sense to install this easy to navigate magazine that is always filled with helpful insights and encouragement for homeschooling parents.

I was so excited to hear that TOS / Texterity was releasing the Kindle Fire app for my TOS magazine. However, when I "purchase" the app, I get a message stating that it is not compatible with my Kindle Fire. I went ahead and selected it anyway in hopes that the error message was wrong, but it won't download to my Fire. I do hope this is a minor technical glitch and this can be corrected quickly. I just got my March issue of TOS and I'd really like to read it with the app!

UPDATE! 3/28/12

I've been checking frequently to see if the TOS app has been released by amazon and become Kindle Fire Compatible; last night when I checked it was! I immediately downloaded it to my Kindle Fire and it worked beautifully. I can view the magazine pages or a more simplified Text view. The links and videos work! If I don't have Wifi, it automatically switches me to a text view- no pics, but I can take it with me and read the articles. I can easily navigate through the pages and change text size for easy reading. Thank you TOS! The delays have required patience, but I am so glad to be able to view my TOS magazine on something other than my home computer!!
