About the Author

Diane Fagan Affleck is the director of interpretation at the American Textile History Museum and oversees the temporary exhibitions program. In her previous capacity as senior curator of the museum, Fagan Affleck focused her research on nineteenth-century printed textiles and American handweaving. She is a graduate of St. Lawrence University and holds an MA from The George Washington University.

Karen Herbaugh is curator of the textile, clothing and pre-industrial machinery collections at the American Textile History Museum. She holds a BS from Arizona State University and an MS from Oregon State University in historic costume and textiles, and a minor in museum studies. Her current research interests are Sino-Japanese influence on Western dress and textile designs created by the Associated American Artists during the 1950s.

The wonderful thing about this book is the fabric samples included. Granted, I'm sure they are reproduction period fabrics but nonetheless, it is so helpful. Not the most comprehensive book but clear, concise summaries of each period--& of course the fabric.
