Great book to help parents decode kids text messages.
mergel
She keeps it out on her puzzle table by her ipad charger, but she hasn't sent me any real text acronyms yet.

Have some fun making them look to see what you wrote!

was only somewhat correct, much of the info was not the same as common knowledge and useage. an example-WTF was not even mentioned and is a very common acronym. other examples could be listed but to what point. this is only useful to understand what kids might be saying--not what I was looking for

Acronyms are every-where ~ many times I've wondered what _____ meant?
It's nice to have this dictionary for translation ~ what for me is a new language.

This family friendly version is the second edition copyright 2011
And the size is different then stated in the product details for the first edition.

The 2011 edition is 5 1/4" tall, 3 1/2" wide and 1/4" thick spiral bound paperback
that contains over 1,000 acronyms and symbols & fits in most any pocket.

The handbook contains:
3 pages of symbols.
72 pages of A-Z acronyms and phrases.
2 pages of senior addendum's.
2 blank pages for notes.

I'm not sure why they've added the 2 pages for seniors.
Some of which would be more confusing then helpful.
Such as BFF ~ best friends forever.
Senior addendum BFF ~ best friend fell.

Footnote ~ For a more complete list of acronyms that includes other symbols,
slang & cuss words such as WTF, there's an uncensored version of this dictionary.
Both versions are needed to capture the complete language.

I got this as a gag gift for my mom when she got her texting capabilities for the first time. She keeps it out on her puzzle table by her ipad charger, but she hasn't sent me any real text acronyms yet. Perhaps she's only using it to decode my message. Either way, it was well worth it for the giggles and memories.
