Somewhat interesting collection of texts,
By A Customer
This review is from: Texts on Zulu Religion: Traditional Zulu Ideas About God (African Studies) (Hardcover)
Hexham here compiles numerous writings about Zulu religious thought in the 19th century, from the viewpoints of missionaries, merchants and others. He includes brief descriptions of each author and edits some of the texts to limit their theme to religion a bit better, but the range of topics covered is still broad. Some of the observers are much better writers than others, and some provide much better analysis (Colenso does a great job here) - overall, the quality is fair and ranges from interesting to dull. Partially recommended, though this probably won't appeal to those really interested in the topic.
