I am thrilled with the textures that I am getting from this hammer - better than it looks in the pictures. I have already texturized many metal projects using this hammer and am pleased with how much they enhance the look of the pieces. The only downside is that the threads are poorly made and when changing the heads, they want to cross thread so you have to be very careful whenever you change the heads. If if weren't for the threads, I would give this hammer 5 stars. Nice variety of textures, nice weight and I think I prefer not having to have all the hammers - takes up less valuable room.

I bought this for my Mom who is into making jewelry and she thought it was great. She showed it around her metalworking class and everyone wanted to know where it came from so they could order one for themselves. Just make sure that you line the threads up on the heads while changing them out.

I was so excited to get this hammer and used it faithfully for about three months. Then, the hammerhead separated from the handle. Glad this didn't happen while I was actually hammering. It's too late to return to amazon for a full refund, so I'm stuck. Guess I could take it to my local hardware store and maybe they can suggest how to repair it, but considering how expensive the tool is, it should at least last a year. Maybe the manufacturer can recommend a quick fix?

REVISED: I contacted the manufacturer about the hammerhead falling off, and they replaced the hammer promptly. Thanks to Eurotools for replacing this product. No problems with the new hammer and love, love, love the textures. Due to terrific customer service, I'm a fan.

I think everyone has done a reasonable job with the reviews, and here are my thoughts:

As some mention, the heads often become loose after a few good strikes which can be a problem if you want to keep the texture alignment at a certain angle. I usually check it after every few blows and 'true' things up if needed. What a pain.

Having worked in construction on and off and having used many good, old hammers with great steel and super-hard hardwood handles, I can confidently say the wood is cheap--almost feels like it's been artificially hardened. The steel is 'okay', but certainly not quality tool steel. No problems so far, but it doesn't have a very 'quality' feel to it. Made in Pakistan, which often seems to mean just *slightly* better than Chinese-made.

Those are my only real gripes. I find the weight and action good for pounding on dead-soft copper sheet. As someone else pointed out, only about half of the faces will probably ever be useful. The thin stripe, wide stripe, and checkerboard patterns are great. The 'moonscape' (slightly radiused and 'flat') face creates a cool fish scale type pattern, but honestly, you'd probably be able to get a similar result from a ball peen hammer.

Prices on these can vary quite a bit, and the same hammer has at least 3 different listings on Amazon. Some are pricier, some are lower, but I'm pretty certain they're all the same hammer, manufactured at the same place, only sold by different people with slightly different product titles. I paid an "undisclosed" amount containing the number '3' followed by a '0' and would not have paid any more than that. I believe many of the 2-face hammers are also made in Pakistan, probably at the same factory.

Let's see... I do not like this hammer. Of the nine texturing tips... only two or three are practical in my opinion. The rings that hold the tips to the hammer are difficult to thread (and easy to cross-thread!)... and the tips hard to keep from coming loose while hammering. This is my least favorite tool purchase.

I bought this hammer without reading prior reviews. After I purchased the hammer I started reading reviews that were not very positive. As soon as I received it in the mail, I contacted Amazon and asked to return it, without using it, just because the reviews were not very positive. HOWEVER, because of the price, I decided to keep it and use it. I LOVE IT. It may not be top quality, as in the handle, but the heads are VERY heavy and do an awesome job in texturizing my metal. I use it on copper and silver. I would say that it is a very good product and a very good price and I have not been disappointed in the least that I decided to keep it. I am glad I did.

I love using this hammer. The differing texture heads are easy to twist on and off without any issue of them coming loose during use. The texturing heads offer a wide variety of patterns that can be used. Texture shows up on metal with the first swing or tap.
