Snoop Dogg is one of my favorite rappers. I've grown up listening to him since I was a child while he was rhyming on Dr. Dre's "The Chronic". I've even stuck by him when he put out bad albums ("The Game Is Sold...") and when he dropped a decent album ("Paid The Cost..."). "The Blue Carpet Treatment" would probably be his best in over a decade if you ask me.

This album is full of laced beats and good rhymes. "Think About It" comes off real strong from Snoop laced with a dope beat. The radio hit "Thats That..." with R. Kelly gives listeners a nice R&B tune to listen to. As well as the other hit "I Wanna Love You" with Akon, another hit for this album.

As I said in my title, this is what "Cali Iz Active" should have sounded like. That CD was so horrible and failed to follow it's concept. This album followed what that concept should have been. Most of the guest appearances are form Cali. "Candy" would feature Goldie Loc, MC Eiht, E-40, and The Dogg Pound, and a real nice tune to ride to. "LAX" with Ice Cube is another standout tune that featured a sample from Biggie's "Going Back To Cali" in the hook. I'd say for some reason, my favorite song is toward the end with "Imagine" with Dr. Dre. and D'Angelo. Possibly because that piano laced throughout the song. Snoop would close the album with "Conversations" with Stevie Wonder, showing off that he's trying to get his mind right. Other guests include The Game, B-Real from Cypress Hill, George Clinton, and Kam (where the hell have YOU been Kam???).

Although this is a good CD I've heard from Snoop in a minute, it still has some rough parts. "10 Lil' Crips" sounded kinda weak to me. And I wasn't feeling the song "Beatin' Up On Yo Pads" although it's a positive song about him coaching and playing football, but it's a good song, so I'll make it my honorable mention track.

If you heard that this album was his most consistant since "Doggystyle", you heard correct. We're more than aware that he's not going to drop another one of those albums, but this is a real good one from Snoop. If other west coast artists drop albums like this, we might have the West Coast making a comeback. And being a fan of West Coast rap music, I am more than ready for it. If you thought Snoop fell off, well he gives doubters "Tha Blue Carpet Treatment".

MY MOST FAVORITE SONG ON THIS ALBUM IS "CANDY" FEATURING LADY BUG, E-40, AND KURUPT.... THANK YOU SNOOP, (AND FEATURES)!!!!!

I bought this CD on 3/1/09 it is 4/3/09 & I still dont have the cd, WTF? Why does t take so long? I bought the cd at a great price BUT the price dont mean SH#T if i dont get the cd for over a month... Thats bad bussiness. As a matter of fact wheres my CD>>>> Im writing this review & I dont even have the CD.

I must admit that after Snoop came with Doggfather he has been making suspect albums ever since(Paid The Cost, The Game is To be sold,The Last Meal etc). This album is a lot better than Rhythm and Gangsta by a longshot. Standout Tracks: THINK ABOUT IT(Snoop straight spittin over and old school sample), CRAZY, VATO(that hook is funny as hell), THATS THAT S***(dope club record), GET A LIGHT, GANGBANGIN 101(not a bad pair Snoop & Game), LAX, 10 LIL CRIPS, ROUND HERE, I WANNA F*** YOU, BOSS LIFE, DONT STOP and IMAGINE(should have been the last song on the album). Filler: Candy(sounds like a commercial jingle gone wrong), Which One Of You(so stupid its hilarious), Beat up on yo pads(If this was playing in the background of a football video game you'd turn down the TV with the quickness), A B**** I Knew(a bland clone of Too Short's Cocktails), Psst(a waste of Jamie Foxx's talent and our time) and Like This(somebody stop these dance record before they get out of hand!). Bottom Line: This is Snoop's best album in a long while! Snoop sound a lot more refreshed here and the production was great. Plus the guest appearances were on their job. This is Snoop's best album since Doggystyle.

After dropping seven albums over the span of 13 years, I have to admit that I'd lost a lot of faith in Snoop. A lot of his release have been lackluster at best, but he always manages to drop a hit here and there to keep his head above water. I understand that this isn't '92 anymore. Snoop isn't going to drop joints like that anymore. With that being said, according to modern standards, most of this album is bangin' (no pun intended). The amount of tight joints surprised me. "Boss' Life", "Psst!", and "Vato" are strong tracks while "Imagine" and "Round Here" get repeated spins from me. "That's That S***" is decent and I love spinnin' "I Wanna F*** You" in the club despite radio running them both into the ground and it would appear that Snoop has recovered his lost flow (one of my biggest complaints was his off beat rappin') because he rides the beat on "Think About It" with ease. Also, "Candy (Drippin' Like Water)" gets props just for the sample alone (and 40 Water's verse is nice too). I think the production is what makes this one of his better joints. He gets help from the likes of Timbaland, Fredwreck, Battle Cat, Dr. Dre, and a few others.

Even though I like this album, there are a few lackluster joints that just didn't belong. Tracks like "Lil' Crips", "Get A Light" (despite a great Timbo beat), and "Crazy" all fall under skip material for this listener and "Gangbangin' 101" seems like a forced Snoop/The Game collabo. Also, "A B**** I Knew" is pretty forgettable. Actually, there are a few tracks toward the end of the album are forgettable too (Beat Up On Yo Pads & Don't Stop).

Tha Blue Carpet Treament is one of the biggest surprises in rap this year. I expected Snoop to drop another ho-hum album like he'd been doing, but this LP actually held my attention for more than 5 tracks. For me, that's saying a lot when it comes to Snoop. There is a marked drop off toward the end of the album, it's still good enough to make getting it a good idea. I recommend checking this joint out if you haven't already.
