I was skeptical when Amazon recommended this to me, but after reading some reviews and doing a little background checking, I decided I'd give it a try... the result: I'm rather pleased and it is better than I was expecting. Though relatively short, with only 12 songs, you get 1 near classic, 5 are ok, the other 6 are good solid songs, and none I skip over. He does in a was have a sound semi-like Jay-Z, but that is not a bad thing. Has a decent flow and mainly content you've heard about the streets before, and a few radio friendly songs for the ladies. The album has 6 guests appearances, all are on here just doing the hooks, no other rappers are on here. Production is pretty good as well, and handled from many different people. Khao and Reefa each do 2 songs, Jelly Roll, WOnka, M. Rell, Nard & B, Tha Bizness, Shondrae, Black Elvic Williams, and LT MOe all do 1 song. I Think this is a good album to check out and I'm interested in hearing some of his future work.

This review is from: Tha Connect (Audio CD)
This cd is going to flop so hard and it's b/c of NO PROMOTION !!!! I went to 2 Best Buys and 2 Targets and 1 local cd store and none of them had 1 copy and had no idea who WNP was. I finnaly found the cd at a FYE 20 miles away. I live in Baton Rouge the capital of Louisiana and it's a big city with no Willy NP.
On to my review this cd is CLASSIC !!! He is singed to Ludacis's DTP records he is from Arazona and every song is great I listen straight threw no skips and I reccomend this cd to everyone. It's crazy how he is on DEf Jam records and major record lable and had no promotion at all.

Willy's name is not really circulating as it should. This is top notch album, and still in my changer which says alot. Easily one of the best new releases for '09.

Willy Northpole from Ludacris' DTP records puts out a debut record that few can claim they had. Only The Game has put out a better debut in my opinion, and he had Dr. Dre and 50 Cent(before he decided to suck) cosigning on his debut The Documentary. Willy has a unique voice that he uses to full effect on every track on here. It's a west coast CD for sure, but he also has some club tracks on there (Body Marked Up) and some stuff for the ladies and the homies. The only problem I had with the cd is that 3 of the songs on his debut were on his 28 grams mixtape...which isn't uncommon I guess, but he had to have more material than that and I would have liked to have seen more new material on there. That being said though, I can't fault him for re releasing those tracks cause they're heat rocks. Body Marked Up, Hood Dreamer, and the Story are worth it the second time around. Best tracks on there are Body Marked Up, The Story, Hood Dreamer, Heaven, #1 Side Chick, and Feelin' All Right. Great debut, and I hope he gets a re release on this CD later in his career cause it's worth the gwap you put on it.

This CD is incredible! I've been familiar with WNP for awhile being in Arizona...its an album definitely worth buying....unfortunately with MJ passing away right after it was released...it has been overshadowed.
Hopefully, the label will consider a re-release because Willy deserves his proper dues for this album!

Alot of people have never heard of Willy and really its a shame. He is by far the best outta the first three that have came outta AZ, (Young Hot Rod, Juice and of course Willy). Now Willy started out ridin with Young Hot Rod after he landed his G-Unit Records deal and already had some songs out, but the first one I heard that put me up on Willy was called "The Game Diss" where he attacks The Game, Fat Joe, Jadakiss and whoever else G-Unit had problems wit at the time but more so Game than anyone else. If you havent heard it download that song, I also heard "Body Marked Up" about the same time and this is years ago before Luda and them remixed it up for the radio and T.V. He would of signed with the Unit if someone hadn't been hatin on him, but I aint sayin no names, Talk Of New York. So after his small stint with the Unit he did his own thing for awhile and eventually dropped a mixtape with DJ Don Cannon called "Street Kings: 28 Grams" which is a classic mixtape showcasin his range and lyrical skills, download it from your favorite torrent or where ever else you download from. Now I know he signed with Luda and DTP but I never heard much from him since, I mean I heard the song he did wit Luda and Game which kinda blew my mind since he was hardcore dissin Game a few years back but I always thought signing to DTP was a bad move, I mean really who has had success from that camp beside Luda, really?? Shawnna had one song, Bobby Valentino did good but not enough to stick around, so really why DTP? I dont know, but as you can see Willy's debut came outta nowhere with little to no promo and I dont know anyone who has even heard a radio single or seen a video yet. Now I havent had a chance to pick this up since I didnt even know it was out yet, but once I get a chance I will mos def be snatchin it up because to me all the material I have heard thus far from Willy has been top notch above the competition and outta the whole DTP crew is to me the only artist that deserves to have his album pushed and promoted. I know this is more of an insight to Willy the artist and not a review, just trust that if you like good hip hop music you should pick up his mixtape and see for yourself, I mean it is free on the net anyways and if you like what you hear, pick up "Tha Connect". This is one artist who should be heard and who should be a star in hip hop, he has the skills, he just needs the support, I hope some of you take a chance and check him out, he deserves it.
