5.0 out of 5 stars SNOOP REALLY DID GOOD JOB :)
ME, I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A SNOOP DOGG FAN. BUT AFTER READING SNOOP'S BOOK I THINK THAT I BECAME AN EVEN BIGGER FAN. I LOVED IT. NOT ONLY WAS IT DETAILED AND ALL ABOUT SNOOP, IT WAS BY SNOOP. SO ME BEING A READER I GOT TO SEE WHAT SNOOP THOUGHT ABOUT VARIOUS THINGS THAT HAPPENED TO HIM IN HIS LIFE. AND IT WAS NOT A BORING BOOK IN SOME PARTS IT WAS FUNNY. SO IF YOU WANT...

3.0 out of 5 stars Snoop's life is worth reading...
Well, I must say I liked the book. I am an atheist so all the God talk was slightly hard to read, but I enjoyed Snoop's positive attitude and honesty. He has lived an interesting life, and I find it very cool to listen to his music now, knowing his relationships with Warren G and Dr. Dre and Suge Knight/Death Row. What I found odd was the somewhat hypocritical life...

5.0 out of 5 stars A very honest and entertaining book, January 7, 2000
By A Customer
While I do not agree with everything Snoop Dogg writes (He blames racism on too many things) I did find his honesty very refreshing. This is really a great book that should be read by anyone interested in a success story that is also surprisingly uplifting

5.0 out of 5 stars Great job, Snoop!, January 29, 2000

This is a very interesting book on the life of Snoop Dogg. It really gives you the behind-the-scenes of Snoop Dogg's life. This autobiography made me like and appreciate Snoop Dogg and his rap a lot more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Snoop's truth., August 15, 2000
Whether you like his music or not, this book provides a clear window on the life of a youngster growing up in the 'hood. Some of Snoop's insights are deeply perceptive and the book certainly reads as if we are getting the truth according to Snoop. A quick read, but not a shallow one. This middle-aged cracker truly appreciated hearing the way it is from Snoop's point of view. I learned from him. That's what reading is all about for me. Hey, Snoop, you elevated and educated me. Thanks!

What I found odd was the somewhat hypocritical life Snoop now lives, talking about peace and understanding and God, vs. his music which says a very different thing. There is no explanation for this in the book. How can one man go from Gangsta violence to peace without an explanation? I can't say this was the best book I have ever read, but it wasn't bad...

2.0 out of 5 stars Very confused book, very confused man, March 18, 2006
By
Snoop tries to please everyone with his tale. He wants to make his momma proud by talking about God and spirituality, but he wants to continue his gangsta facade. In the end it comes out completely hypocritical by him essentially saying, "I'm doin God's work by pimpin these [...] (Censoring mine)

The book has it's moments. If Snoop wasn't interesting, why would I have bothered reading about him? But this a book to sleep walk through. Written on a 5th grade reading level, it made for good toilet time.

Don't expect anything profound, nothing truly revealing, and you won't be disappointed. It's simply a PR work.

4.0 out of 5 stars Snoop Dogg- Tha Dog father, May 14, 2001

This review is from: Tha Doggfather: The Times, Trials, And Hardcore Truths Of Snoop Dogg (Paperback)
For my lit class I had to read a book. So I chose a book that is about a rapper that i love. I made a great selection with this book. This book is amazing. It tells u everything about Snoop Dogg. It tells about his childhood, and growing up in the LBC (Long Beach California). It tells about his time in jail, about him being a ganster, and about all of his record deals. Also this book gets into his relationship with Dr. Dre, Waren G, and NateDog. And it explains his relationship with his wife, and his children. I highly recommend this book to anyone that likes rap, or wants to know more about rap.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Interesting Truthful Account, February 5, 2000
I found this to be a truthful and insightful slice of life into the world and mind of a rap artist. Of course this one happens to be an international star, so it becomes even more fascinating. I work with rap artists and was pleasantly surprised at Snoop's depth and honesty in this book. He's an intelligent man who is in charge of his own destiny and who has made decisions in his life that have brought him supreme knowledge of himself (eventhough at times the lessons were painfully brutal). I found this a quick and intriguing read and didn't put it down til it was done. I then had the opportunity to meet him by phone afterwards and found his voice in the book to be exact reality. One of the better books available by or about a recording artist.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!, December 24, 2003
By
A very strong and interesting book. He is not hiding anything in this autobio.. and he told everything about his gangsta' life and also how he became an OG (Crip).
Now after reading this, I listen to his CDs all differently. First, they were just A rap CDs,but now they r Snoop's CDs.

Buy it or rent it or borrow it from the library, but u must read it if u like snoop!!

4.0 out of 5 stars His best work, strangely enough, May 26, 2003

(REAL NAME)
This is one of the most interesting celebrity memoirs I've ever read. And - if we can assume that the ultimate purpose of any such book is to increase our affection for the author - one the most successful.

Now I've never considered Snoop a particularly exemplary rapper. The enjoyable flavor [I'm white, okay? If I wrote "flava", I'd deserve to have my car radio stolen] of his stoned drawl aside, I just don't see how big a claim you can make for an annunciatory couplet as banal as "One, two, three, and to the four / Snoop Doggy Dogg and Dr. Dre is at the door". But even if Mr. Broadus does pull his punches when it comes to Suge Knight's reign of terror [hey, are *you* prepared to tweak the guy off?], he is as honest about his coming-up as anyone could ask for. And his descriptions of both the good times and the bad times in the L.B.C. are truly evocative. His concise account of how life in the ghetto and life in jail reveal themselves as opposite sides of the same coin is worth 100 books full of pedantry from (white) TV talking-heads about "the problem of the underclass". Frankly, if his raps were as educational as this book, Snoop would actually accomplish what Chuck D. was trying to pull off for so many years. I hope he goes for it instead of minding his scrilla with unchallenging panegyrics to blunts and booty.
