5.0 out of 5 stars Honouring The Practice of Thai Massage, March 9, 2006
In her book "The Thai Massage Workbook", Kay Rynerson maintains a supportive classroom context for the massage professional and this work is an ideal study for continuing education.

Here, is a well-defined articulation of a classic Northern style of Thai massage. This lineage was of the first to be embraced and studied in depth on foreign lands. North Americans have slowly come to recognize the precious art of Thai massage and now credit is earned where it is due. Rynerson shares the wisdom through her practice and her publishing.

The concepts outlined in "The Thai Massage Workbook" demonstrate safe and effective techniques to approach a wide variety of aches and pains, as well as to address the body from a preventative point of view. The impressionable names of each posture make them easy to remember and the clarity in the illustrations make them easy to follow visually.

Though, much of this medicine is new to the Western forum of practice, the benefits strike a chord of truth. With simplicity, Thai massage gains momentum in the hearts of all those who are open with a willing mind.

Kay Rynerson did an excellent job preparing this book. She thoroughly takes you through 136 movements to complete a great traditional (northern style) Thai Massage. The book includes prone, supine, sideline and sitting thai massage techniques. It's simple, uncluttered layout and black & white illustrations makes it easy to stay in the flow of the massage. I wore out my copy and eventually bought the video. This workbook would make a great edition to a massage therapist reference library

Excellent format, clear descriptions, very "user friendly". The spriral bounding is a nice feature of this book. Lays flat while you are practicing.
