If the autor is to believed there is a predatory Thai lurking around every corner, waiting to rip one off in the most callous fashion.That is not the real Thailand one knows from many visits, where people are generally friendly, helpful and honest.There are crooks and there are scams.Any sensible individual who stays reasonably sober and doesn't frequent the obviously bad establishments in Patpong Road or similar has no difficulty avoiding them. Thailand does not deserve to be called the land of scams.

Price too high, alternatives are much better,

As much as I appreciate the eye-opening aspect of the book, I think 5 dollars is still much. There are other alternatives out there for travelers to Thailand. My recommandations would be TripAdvisor and Scam Detector app for iPhone. This book presents only 25 scams for 5 bucks, while the Scam Detector app exposes over 350 scams, for only 99 cents. You choose.
