Book Description

Thailand Winter Escape

We are Catalin, Adina and Vladimir: a family with a small child, on a tight budget, looking for a tropical destination that’s cheaper than back home. We live in Romania but we like spending our winters in Thailand.

We’re in love with this country

Not so much with its perfect beaches, its tropical jungle, or the warm breath of the Indian Ocean, but with the humanity awoken in us by its relaxed, Buddhist, modest, smiling inhabitants. Because the gods cannot bless everyone with all of their gifts, Thai people themselves are also blinded by Westerners, venerate fair skin and Coca Cola, and are on track to lose their beautiful cultural identity within the next few decades.

Personal Storytelling, Insider Authority

With every trip to Thailand, we are faced with the same problems as on the first: What should we do? Where should we go? How much will it cost? Exciting ideas are rare, and in their absence, piecing together a trip becomes a nightmarish task. The internet might be an ocean from which those in the know can fish out useful information. But for amateurs like us, finding a cove of useful and verified information is no easy feat. So we set out to make our own, bringing together our own first hand experiences in the form of short stories.

4.0 out of 5 stars Thailand January 14, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Fast paced and well written this travelogue is a collection of short stories about Thailand: from what’s it like to travel with a baby to what are the locals’ favorite beaches, from a critique of the liquids of South East Asia to the experience of conniving in the same bungalow with a deadly centipede.
A good read indeed!

5.0 out of 5 stars What an inspiring example! December 18, 2013

Running away from winter, a young family with a little baby is looking for a tropical destination that’s cheaper than back home. They discover Thailand and fell in love with it. Although their vacations are not all milk and honey they keep returning here every winter. I loved these stories for they are funny, inspiring and full of useful information. I’m looking forward for my Sabbatical year for now I know where I’d like to go.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice book with some nice travel tips! August 23, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I loved this short book. My wife and I visited Thailand last year and plan to go next year too. I definitely learned about some off-the-beaten-path places in this book that I will check out next time. The authors seem like nice people who integrate themselves into the local culture and really get to know a place.
