I bought this for my 12 year old son for Christmas. He has been getting interested in science and thought he would really enjoy doing some experiments. When he unwrapped the gift, he was excited and wanted to start doing stuff almost immediately.

Unfortunately, we found that the vials for the base chemicals that were needed for all the experiments were empty! What a disappointment!

Hi I bought this set at the insistence of nine year old twins, but so far it hasn't really sparked their interest. I don't know if they are too young or if was a just a case of chemical envy. I think their friend Sarah got one so they wanted one. Except for the purchase of an extra pair of goggles and rubber gloves it was totally complete. I would recommend this as a introduction to chemistry set., With a limited number of experiments it was not too complex or overwhelming . Another set of smaller size gave instructions for 1500 experiments, with fewer chemicals. Not being a chemical engineer, I took one look at the manual an got an instant migraine headache.
