Regardless of all the disgusting vile, disrespect, name-calling, insults, racism and hate spewed by some... not all... 1 (and 2 star) reviews, it appears Mrs Malkin's book will be... CORRECTION...NOW #1: "SEVEN (07) WEEKS IN A ROW" (NON-FICTION, HARDCOVER)... on the nyt best-seller list.

The bulk of the credit for this enormous feat was accomplished mostly by the "1 (and 2 STAR) REVIEWS" themselves. You make the lights of Jayson Blair so proud.

Two posts especailly are most vile and turn the stomach of decent, dignified intellectuals:

1. "Phillipina Idiot"...Faux News, posted 14 August.
2. "In it for the $$$"...Zachary W "Zoundo", posted 30 July.

I opine there are so many others who contributed to the success of Mrs Malkin's book and to each and every one of you 1 star reviewers, I say, "Thank You and Well Done"!

Attacking the the facts, details and message in Mrs Malkin's book would have been most academically intelligent and intellectually rewarding. Doing so in such a manner would have lead to an academic exchange of fair debate.

Providing your honest and sincere, specific, un-biased and detailed examples of any falsehood(s), misrepresntations, misormation or distortions found in her book would have been truly welcomed. But not one ever was. Only political diatribes and personal insults were ever submtted by those who were frustrated and envious of the success of the book.

But instead, most... not all... of the 1 (and 2) star ratings decided to attack Mrs Malkin personally and disgracefully. A very un-American tact. This is your just reward for doing so because of such childish and immature behavior! Those of you who chose his tact helped propel the success of this book and it is you, who I thank for that!

Any civil, dignified, respectful exchange of ideas, opinions and views would have produced productive communication and exchange of information between those who agree (with the facts reported by Mrs Malkin) and those who disagree (with the premise of her book).

Whether the book is #1, next week or not... doesn't really matter anymore. Her message is out and those who agree with her are elated and those who disagree with her expose... are filled with envy and anger at their failure... to successfully discredit and debunk the book (in particular)... and... Mrs Malkin (specifically).

The ultimate results of the discussions and ratings of her book are in the eye of the beholder. But there is no doubt Mrs Malkin has another runaway best-seller, thanks to the 1 and 2 star reviews. Those of you who do not think this post adds to the discussion are the ones I'm talking about!

As we say in Hawaii....MAHALO

Pecos Bill says:
Liberals greatly miscalculate the intended effects of things they do. They storm stages at universities, they attack ROTC programs and recruitment centers and they basically go about re-enacting Fahrenheit 451 at every opportunity.

They seek to silence opposition. Their view is the short term: silence this guy at Columbia University NOW. Silence Michelle Malkin NOW. Silence Mark Levin NOW.

The long view, however, proves that their actions are having the opposite effect. By creating ever larger and more obnoxious disruptions, they are causing conservatives to wake up.

See, here's the thing about conservatives: there are a lot of them, but most of them are content to not vote. A recent Gallup poll shows that people who self-identify as "conservative" dominate all 50 states. We're still a conservative nation. But conservatives tend to be non-activist and many of them don't vote. I also know a lot of people around here who don't vote because "the liberals always win anyway". Thing is, if you piss them off enough, they'll go out and vote out of spite, and if enough of them do that, they'll start winning even in places traditionally dominated by liberals.

There are more conservatives, it's just that getting them to the polls is hard.

So yes, thank you, Mr. Obnoxious Liberal With the Bullhorn Trying To Drive Away Protesters By Making Them Go Deaf. Thank you, Mr. Storms the Stage At Columbia. And thank you especially, Mr. Reporter Who Tries To Unfairly Demonize Everyone Who Disagrees With Obama. You're not fooling anyone but yourselves. Your efforts are waking up the conservatives by the hundreds of thousands. It's no coincidence that Mark Levin's book was #1 for so long and now Michelle Malkin's book is taking over. Last year it would have been, "Mark who? Michelle who?" This year, they're selling books like hotcakes because you, Mr. Liberal, have gotten out of control.

P.S.
True story: I had no idea who Michelle Malkin was when I first saw her in a video. All I knew was that there was this lady minding her own business, saying nothing and taking photos when she suddenly got mobbed by protesters, who were yelling stuff at her and some of them started chanting "Kill Michelle Malkin!" I thought, "Wow. Anyone who is hated by liberals that much can't be all bad." That's how I found out she has a blog. And through the blog I found out she had books. So I bought the books.

So thank you, Mr. Screams At Women, you garnered Michelle Malkin at LEAST two book sales and a new fan!

Also, I bought a couple boxes of earplugs to hand out at the next protest. Go ahead and shout yourself deaf, Mr. Obnoxious Person With the Bullhorn, we'll just plug our ears and carry on. The silent majority may not be silent anymore, though.

Pecos Bill.....your first two paragraphs.....

"Liberals greatly miscalculate the intended effects of things they do.

Silence Mark Levin NOW.".....

Are quite compelling and an amazingly truthful, detailed and accurate description of facts and reality. Sir, your analysis is straightforward, excellent and exactly to the point. Far beyond the concepts of reason, common-sense, fairness, intellect, open-mindedness and logic. Thank you & GOD BLESS.........

I haven't read Michelle Malkin's book yet, looking forward to it. But I always find it amusing to see the 1 star reviews by the trolls that are just out to tear down literature that they disagree with. Glad to know someone else sees the obvious too :)

Mr. or Ms. "BC".....as long as opposing views, opinions and ideas are presented civily, decently and respectfully, I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH 1 STAR REVIEWS. I assure you I find them quite entertaining but chilling to say the least.

It is the blatant racism, hate, deceit, dishonestly, disrespect, name-calling, insults, politics and personal attacks, I frown upon and have the problem with. Attack the message..... but not the messenger..... PROVE WHAT YOU CAN PROVE WITHOUT THE RACISM AND DISRESPECT. BOTH SIDES SHOULD REFRAIN FROM PERSONAL ATACKS AND NAME-CALLING!!! Why is that not possible?

As you say... a can of rubbish... is still a can of rubbish...as well as a fact... is still a fact and the truth....is still the truth. Lies and truths can be proven one way or the other. Each and every single intellectual mind should be geared up and used solely to determine what the truth really is, devoid of their political biases. That's when you review the facts and the merits of the facts only to determine the validity of the book.

Facts are facts and rubbish is rubbish, but neither smells the same. Civility is a positive tool and disrespect is a negative one. In my part of the world "civility and mutual respect" opens doors for you, it is a "positive and productive way of life".

By the way "IF" someone doesn't desire to purchase this book that is OK. In most villages, towns and cities there's a "public library". I am not asking anyone to purchase the book at all...I am asking them to read it with an open-mind and present any opposing reviews in a civil manner, that is all I ask, nothing more, nothing less. Common-sense and common-decency go hand in hand. Don't you agree?

Thanks for your comments...

I can't believe it. Obama and the Dems have imploded in only six months. That even quicker than I would have expected from a totally inexperienced "neighborhood organizer" (read Richie Daley bagman) and the Daley cronies who were supposed to be so savvy, but, apparently only when they're using a political machine to bully.

Dems can kiss their majorities goodbye next year. The one-star reviews come off pretty much as socialists REALLY scared to admit that its slipping away this quickly. Did I say slipping? I meant spiraling...as in out of control decline.

Mr. Scanlon, from "your ilk" all we intellectually receive is name-calling, hatred, racism, insults and personal attacks against Mrs Malkin, but no specific, verifiable, details or facts why her book is incorrect in its premise. No one presents falsehoods found in her book or within the facts and her sources that proves their reviews. There's no sign of any innovative, clear-thinking.

There are no examples of verifiable, detailed, distortions or lies submitted or provided by anyone "of your ilk", least of all you! But plenty of political diatribes, name-calling, racism, insults, personal attacks and filth against Mrs Malkin. Your "ilk and "you (personally)" attack the messenger but do not attack her message. DON'T YOU SEE THAT FOR YOURSELF?

Mr. Scanlon, I agree with you, any review'ers "book review" (5 to 1 star) should contain SUBSTANCE, other than personal views or political diatribes. With that thought in mind, look at your precious 1 and 2 star book reviews for perfect examples of baseless, meritless, spineless and worthless disrespectful political diatribes, rants and raves.

Sir look at your own posts for that as well. Case in point you opine Mrs Malkin is a "harlot"? DID YOU SAY THAT? How would you personally know that is a "fact"? Just because you opine she is... does not make that opinion truthful. BUT IT DOES MAKE YOU A LIAR!

Why would you disgrace yourself in such a public forum? Agree to disagree respectfully...fine. Provide verifiable facts to back up your own words and thoughts. Your opinions, ideas and views are important... but only if you "responsibly" present them and are able to back up what comes out of your mouth with statements of fact...VERIFIABLE TRUTH. Providing facts and only facts would do the trick. You will be held accountable for your distortions and lies Sir!

I AGAIN would like you to bring to your attention two specific "1 star reviews" that are disrespecful, vile and racist to say the very least:

1. In it for the $$$...Zachary W. "Zoundo", posted 30 July 2009
2. Philipina Idiot...Faux News, posted 15 August 2009

What say you about "your ilk"? Proud of them? Do you find what you seek within their so-called "fair, balanced, factual, truthful, verifiable, open-minded, two-sided, reasonable, logical, intellectual, educated, honest, un-biased and respecful" (1 and 2 star) "book reviews" you reflect your "ilk" so very well!

PLEASE NOTE... MR. SCANLON NEVER RESPONDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comparing the one-star and five-star reviews is interesting. Most of the five-star reviews are well written, cogent, and stick to the facts, while most of the one-star reviews are poorly written, often with bad grammar, and rely more on smears and insults (i.e. attack the messenger rather than objective facts).

Amazon should allow only its customers who have actually purchased the book being "reviewed" from them to post a review. It is doing no service to its customers by allowing people who have not read the book being reviewed to engage in an unfounded political rant. I have not read nor have I written a review of the book but I do know that Michelle Malkin is a good writer and seriously doubt that the book warrants a one-star rating.

Mr Eagle, MM is the titular author assisted by professional writers and a technical staff of editors. Her repeating motif is to discredit the

Redshift1... Your opinion is presented respectfully and I respect both your opinions and style. Thank you for presenting views respectfully. At least there is no malice or name-calling, just an interesting, opposing view. I have no problem with you attacking the book or message, just not Mrs. Malkin personally. My belief is you're an innovative thinker.

Your opinion is... "Mrs Malkin has a long history of self-promotion by advocating outlandish and provacative themes"...My opinion is, she is doing just that..... but with detailed, verifiable, truthful and accurate "facts". If you have any verifiable evidence anything in her book is false... please let me know what you think that is? Your opinions, views, and ideas are just fine. I respectfully do not agree with your views..."Her repeating motif is to discredit the current administration through sensationalism and stream of conscious journalism." I like the "conscious journalism" but not your other point. What is "sensationalism", if what she reports is verifiable truth?

As you know "eagles don't like to soar too much with buzzards".

Wish you would provide "substance", specific examples and evidence of what you think is incorrect in her book? Do you think if there are any "lies or distortions" the mass media would not be attacking her this very moment and exposing same? Instead, she's on the NYT best seller list. I am old Redshift1 so please bear with me. I just want to see in "black and white" where the "alleged" falsehoods are located and exactly what hey are. There is no gray area when providing truthful facts and verifiable facts. Once facts are verifiable, for all to see for themselves, I start believing what I read.

I daresay, in my opinion, this current administration is doing a pretty good job, "on its own", to discredit themselves. Doesn't appear they need any help whatsoever, from outside sources. Now they are going after those CIA personnel whose duty it was to defend America and keep its people safe? (These are noble and honorable men and women). Healthcare? Cash for clunkers? Cash for refrigerators? How much cash do we have to spend and who is paying for all this? Where is the money coming from?

I do agree with your view..... "As a reminder the Amazon rating system is rampant with "astroturfing" and is notoriously unreliable through all genres."..... But I believe that is on both sides of the aisle and I daresay, "1 and 2" star reviews, in particular.

Ms. Malkin is the beneficiary of the rightwing MO of buying a zillion copies of a book and then handing them out as freebies to the gullible. The purchases push her sales numbers but don't reflect anything other than the usual inability of the rightwing do anything in a fair and even-handed manner. The rightwing helped to steal the 2000 election so skewing the sales figures so they can land a venom spewers' book at the top of Times non-fiction list is not a big deal but just another way to cheat in order to crow "we win."
Regnery Publishing is another word for Rightwing Publishing because no other publishing house would put out this kind of slop disguised as a book.
Also your use of words such as "civil, dignified, and respectful in regard to an exchange of ideas, opinions and views" is laughable in light of the past 17 years when members of the GOP in Congress and the media have made incivility, disrespect, vilification the norm and taken name-calling to new heights.
Ms Malkins's rants are so tiresome that her hometown newspaper no longer publishes her commentaries other than once a month. The paper used to publish her weekly but so many people wrote letters to the editor stating that her column was a time waster that they now use it once a month at the most. Sort of says something when your hometown newspaper finds your diatribes too apalling to publish particularly when that hometown newspaper is a Republican-owned paper.

Posted on Sep 13, 2009 11:59:08 AM PDT
The reason books like this full of lies and distortions and so full of hate end up on the top of book sales is because the publisher buys in bulk, thousands of copies. Also, the GOP buys in bulk. They pay for the purchase of thousands of copies and they push their acolytes to buy more themselves. Malkin herself probably buys thousands of books. Any political party (Republican) that outright despises our president so much that they send people to rallies with guns means they will do anything to undermine him, and that includes putting trash books like this at the top of book lists. They are doing the same with the crap that comes out of Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly and Mark Levine. These people are not philosophers, experts, or even well-educated. They are political hacks and hit-men and they are directly funded by the GOP to bring down the Democrats.

You said....."Any political party (Republican) that outright despises our president so much that they send people to rallies with guns means they will do anything to undermine him, and that includes putting trash books like this at the top of book lists.".....

The man in the photo holding an assault rifle was an African-American citizen. Not sent by the Republican party. Did you know that?
You further opine....."They are doing the same with the crap that comes out of Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly and Mark Levine. These people are not philosophers, experts, or even well-educated. They are political hacks and hit-men and they are directly funded by the GOP to bring down the Democrats.".....

That is solely your opinion, nothing more and nothing less. You are blinded by your politics and hero worship of this current administration. I believe most everyone has a college degree or two and that might make them somewhat educated. Common-sense? Well that is the issue isn't it!

Ma'am I think the Democratic Party is doing a pretty good job of bringing themselves down... Rangel, Dodd, Reid, Pelosi, Franken... do I need to go on?
