Inspirational Words for All Occassions,

Wow! That was my first reaction after reading Robyn Spizman's inspirational Thank You book. She really shows how to send a heartfelt thank you for any occasion. Instead of the traditional, "Thank you so much for the blah...," Robyn really shows how to make every word count and show how truly thankful you are, not only for the gift, but to the giver for being a special friend or relative. I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone and everyone who ever wants to say thank you and mean it.

Great ways to extend your thanks!,

I was given this book as a pre-wedding gift from my parents. Wow! This book was so very helpful in writing the hundreds of ?thank you? notes that I had to churn out in a small period of time. This small, little book helps inspire you to make thank you statements that really mean something. I heard so much feedback from those that were generous enough to give gifts, about my heartfelt sent thank you notes! I continue to use the book, years after marriage, for cute ideas of thanks!

This book is excellent for anyone who needs to say a short "Thank You." I believe it will prove useful many times in the future. I just got married and had no idea how to say thank you to all of the many people we recieved gifts from. I have flipped through it many times for ideas on what words to use, but it is still very difficult. The notes are very formal in the book, and I am definately not that formal.
This book has encouraging words on many topics, along with some samples of notes that can be written. A few of these topics include friend, birthday, and everyday thank-yous, romantic and edible thank yous, family and teacher thank yous, and even business thank-yous. It also has a nice list of adjectives that can be used in a letter or note.

Finding the Right Words,

I liked that the book started out recommending you thank four people a day. That's a good goal, to form a habit of thanking people. She gives lists of special words to jazz up your thank you notes. The book also has sentences ready to insert in your notes. There are lots of sample notes for various occasions.
Most of it seems rather routine, but it may be a life-saver to a new bride faced with umpteen thank you notes to write for all the gifts. Beyond the standard, social thank yous, it shows sample thank you notes for members of your family. I like the idea of writing a note telling them why they are special in our life. She made one suggestion that irked me, to start a thank you chain letter. There's a ton of those on the internet and most people find them pretty annoying. Otherwise, the book had good ideas, although none really exceptional. It's just handy to have it all together.

Bought this book recently and was slightly disappointed mainly b/c many of her ideas seem a bit cheesy. A few sugestions even made me wonder if I'd look like a total dork for doing what she recommended. If you lean towards sappy this is your book but for those who aren't, don't waste your money.

I have a hard time thinking of things to say. This didnt really make it better. It is a nice idea and has some nice examples but it didnt really help me think of ways to say thank you to certain things like a group.

Creative ways to say thank you and make people smile,
This review is from: The Thank You Book: Hundreds of Clever, Meaningful, and Purposeful Ways to Say Thank You (Hardcover)
In both my career and volunteer work I find myself needing to thank many people, some of them many times. This book is full of clever ideas. Even the stuffiest person I know smiled when I called him the smartest cookie I know in the card with his box of Hope's cookies. (His assistant told me so.) My days are full, so I appreciate having this book to turn to when I need a clever way to say thank you! I hope this helps you if you are considering purchasing this book.

Good concept for a book, but suggestions are a little cheesy,
This review is from: The Thank You Book: Hundreds of Clever, Meaningful, and Purposeful Ways to Say Thank You (Hardcover)
I really liked the concept of helping the reader express heartfelt thanks to the people in his/her life. Personally, the authors' suggestions are a little too cheesy for my tastes and I don't see myself actually doing them. The book did make me think of ways that would be a little more reflective of my personal style, though.

Over the top and corny...,

While I can appreciate the etiquette behind sincere "Thank You" letters and gestures, I have a hard time swallowing Robyn Spizman's saccharine-like suggestions for "Clever, Meaningful, and Purposeful Ways to Say Thank You." To her credit, I did appreciate some of the quotations in her "Famous Thank You Quotations" section. I also feel that she had some good advice with "the art of accepting a complement" and with encouraging the habit of "Thank Yous" with children. However, if I actually put the majority of her cloying, dilettantish suggestions to practice, my friends and family would think that I was either seriously afflicted or being highly sarcastic. I'm sorry, but doing things like sending someone a basket of bubblegum with a note that says "I would "chews" you again and again as my friend," or writing things like "We all felt like royalty at your beautiful dinner...Fit for a King and Queen, every course of your delicious menu will always be savored and remembered...Our sincerest thanks for such a wonderful evening. We're slowly coming back down to earth!" is just too corny and hyperbolic for my tastes. If you enjoy this type of cutesy/sappy fluff, then this book is for you - If not, I suggest not wasting time with this thing.
Maybe someone should do a follow up called "The SARCASTIC Thank You Book." That would probably be a better read.

Now and again I could use some help when I write a thankyou note or card. Though usually I'm fine with it off the top of my head now and again I could use some jump start. So this little book along with 2 others I picked up used to save a little are perfect to do just that. This was used but it looks new so great choice this time on the help us go green and buying used. All 3 books I picked up are small and neatly stack together not taking up a lot of room.
If you are looking for big long texted phrases to fill pages for you this is not the tool. It is more for charming little thankyou's...not how to say everything. Simple and light and easy to find something or get your own words going it is. Enjoy,,,,and Thanx |
