5.0 out of 5 stars A great Herbie cd, February 15, 2001

This review is from: Thank You Charlie Christian (Mlps) (Audio CD)
I bought this cd without any idea how it was, I hate doing that. I was looking for Ellis in the 50s and 60s, pre-Concord, when he was just burning like mad. This is a great CD. There isn't a date, but I'm thinking the early 60's.

Here's the personnel: Frank Strazzari:Piano, Herry Babasin: Cello, Chuck Berghofer:Bass, Kenny Hume:Drums. The rhythm section was playing in the Bobby Troup Quartet at the time. The group swings and drives hard. Most of the tunes are Herb originals.

Anyway, it's a great CD. If you are a fan of Ellis, jazz, or down home guitar playing, you have got to have this CD.
