I began using this treasure box full of interesting paintings and items many years ago when my children were small. It is a treasure box that has items such as a small Mayflower ship, small pieces of corn on the cobb, a small Bible with verses, etc. There are paintings on cards to go along with what is read. A devotional book fits nicely inside the treasure box. My children are now leaving home one by one and I use it with my 5th grade class. As I read the devotional I pass the cards and items around and the boys and girls color a different Thanksgiving picture each day (not included). They love it, and it is a great reminder of what Thanksgiving is all about -- living a LIFE of thankfulness. ThanksLIVING!

I think that this is a great way to teach children thankfulness. It's fun and interesting for everyone in the whole family. Children like to hold the pieces while you tell them about the pilgrims and the Mayflower. The paintings are great visuals too. I enjoy them just as much as my little girl.
