Great CD from a great show!,
This review is from: That '70s Show Presents That '70s Album: Jammin' (Audio CD)
As a child of the 70's this is an essential CD for me. I can't get enough of this music. Nor can I get enough of That 70's Show. I'm thrilled it's been renewed for another two years.

WE WANT THE FUNK! DO YOU?,
This review is from: That '70s Show Presents That '70s Album: Jammin' (Audio CD)
One of the things that made the seventies a great decade was the music. Don't get me wrong; it wasn't all fun and games but people seemed to be freer and happier then. And a lot of the music of the time reflected that. There was a lot of schlocky stuff to deal with too. But looking back on it now over twenty years later the silly lighthearted stuff in endearing to me now. And I know I'm not the only one who feels that way. Just witness all the radio and television stations that are trying to recapture or cash in on the seventies nostalgia. As far as this cd is concerned I think they did a great job of picking out the music. Funk is the word of this disc. All good tunes here but "Rubberband Man" always annoyed me, even when it first came out. Minor complaint. Also, I think it would be very entertaining if they could throw in little sound bites and snippets from that 70's show itself. Even with the minor complaint I think they did a very good job. A cd most anyone would like. White or black. Hey, even white kids listen to funk...I can vouch for that myself! :)

I grew up in the 70s and this CD brings back SO many memories. It's a great CD to blast when you're having a party or if you just want to celebrate being alive. You don't have to load 10 different CDs in your player and then program it. The best of the 70s on 1 CD.

The Reason why "singles" were invented!,
By
This review is from: That '70s Show Presents That '70s Album: Jammin' (Audio CD)
Now, that record companies (should they still be referred to as that?) are no longer in the business of releasing singles, focusing on an album of one-two "hits" and lackluster filler, it is great to recall a time when an artist was propelled by the strength of his/her 45 on the radio. This compilation is not only a tribute to the Fox comedy, but to the music that so filled our lives in the 70's. EVERY SONG IS A HIT, many showing some career highlight of the singer(s)featured. I should know. I have them all as 45's. If you don't know what a "45" is, ask one of your...Gulp!...GRANDPARENTS(???).

The first reason I watch That '70s Show!,

This review is from: That '70s Show Presents That '70s Album: Jammin' (Audio CD)
I just want to say that this is music that transcends generations! It is great no matter what your age! I'm 18 and I love everything on this album (and a note to the other reviewers: I know what a 45 is!!! I have some!) Anyway, even though this music was a statement straight from the '70s, everyone will like it. It works in the present day, because good music is timeless. It's funky, and perfect for in the car, at a party, whatever! Personally, I think it is much better than the other '70s Show album (I like R&B better than the older rock). Anyway, I would especially recommend this album if you've never listened to any "older" music before and would like to get just one CD with the best stuff to see what it's like. This album is perfect for that! I hope you all buy this CD and enjoy it as much as I do! You won't be disappointed!

Music I grew up on,

I do not own this CD, but I do watch the show and own CD's by all of the artist on it. The fact that it contains music by what I consider some of the greats, rates it a 5. I was born in 1972, and this is the type of music that played in our house from sun up to sun down. I have sons (10 and 11) who like rap, but have adopted my music style and prefer to listen to the likes of James Brown, Bobby Womack, Al Green (their favorite), Bootsy Collins, George Clinton, etc. They can even recognize when an old song has been sampled by a new artist. And to the gentleman that posted the comment "ask your grandparents what a 45 is". I got my first component set (yes, I remember those)when I was 8. With it came four 45's and the little yellow disk you put in the center to make it fit. I am in my early 30's, but the music of the 70's still rates highly with me. |
