4.0 out of 5 stars Because all good things must come to an end...
OK, I was there during the seventies, and just a tad older than these kids. My husband (who was also there) and I laughed all the way through this series because, in many ways, it was so US. The clothes, the music, the goofy humor...yes, children, it was all true. The series did a great job of taking us back, even up to and through season 8. Maybe the ratings did drop...

2.0 out of 5 stars Bad season. I say bad season!
Okay... Topher and Ashton left, that's a blow to the show there. But... this season failed in other aspects too. They knew things were ending and some plots moved way too fast. What was that nervous twitch Fez got during this season? That thing he was always doing with his fingers? The last episode had the potential to be totally awesome and a tear-jerker, but it failed...

Okay... Topher and Ashton left, that's a blow to the show there. But... this season failed in other aspects too. They knew things were ending and some plots moved way too fast. What was that nervous twitch Fez got during this season? That thing he was always doing with his fingers? The last episode had the potential to be totally awesome and a tear-jerker, but it failed due to the writers needing to inject comedy into everything. I mean, I know this is a sitcom, but that ending could have been so much more. Just as Kitty showing the hosue to potential buyers, when she's reminiscing, it was quite emotional for a bit, but they moved it too fast and ruined the moment by ending it with a joke. I got to watch this because it was included with the 70's Show box set I got, but I wouldn't pay for it on its own. Seasons 1-7 are awesome, get those and just think the show ended when Eric left.

1.0 out of 5 stars Okay lets be real here...season 8 blew., December 29, 2007
This review is from: That '70s Show - Season 8 (DVD)
Yeah I said it. Season 8 sucked. It wasn't a really season at all. It was just something the writers scrapped together to get by and it wasn't good at all. First of all Randy? What the heck? What was the point of him except to be a hole filler for Eric. And he didn't even do a good job. He was horrible and just a big slut. Donna deserved something better. Okay second of all Jackie and Fez? Okay yes go through the whole entire series and you can see some scenes where you wonder if they'll end up together but to actually have it happen? It was horrible. I mean yes the things they did to each other before they got together to get back at each other was hilarious I'll give the writers that much but the rest of it after they actually got there....I couldn't watch it. It wasn't right. But the worst thing of all...the stripper. Okay why did Hyde have to go marry the stripper? I mean i loved Jackie and Hyde together and personally i think they were just as perfect for each other as Donna and Eric. But to have him go off and marry a stripper just wasn't right. They were making him too much like Bud when they'd already worked so hard to prove that he wasn't anything like him. So it was just a let down to see that all just disappear. That all the hard work Hyde put into proving he was a good man went poof the second that blonde bimbo walked in the room. I don't know maybe someone else has a different opinion of this and hates what I'm saying but i think this season could have been so much better. Lets hope that in the future there's like a reunion special and they rectify what they have done and make their loyal fans happy. Let's just hope.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad Season, April 17, 2008
This review is from: That '70s Show - Season 8 (DVD)
I've laughed maybe once or twice through out the whole season, unlike other seasons where it was every episode had me wanting more. I found Fez starting to irratate me with his immaturity and the fact that he became the object of Jackie's obsession just screamed "we've run out of ideas here"
Adding a new character into a group of friends that were so close and having us believe he was instantly accepted and "one of them" is fake.

Season 8 is just proof that a good thing can go bad

3.0 out of 5 stars Ehhh, July 31, 2010
This review is from: That '70s Show - Season 8 (DVD)
Season 8... where to start. The first episode was decent because it gave us an update on what had happened to the gang since Eric's departure. Episode 2: NO! RANDY!? WHAT IS THAT!?!? Randy had no point and was terrible he smiled waaaay too much and tried to be a big dumb man-whore. Fez was right to hate and resent him. Episodes 3-20: Very very bad. Randy was a huge idiot and the more I saw him the more I hated him. Also, Hyde's stripper wife? NOT NECESSARY! Worst of all: Fez and Jackie? SERIOUSLY!? Early in the series Fez followed Jackie religiously and even had a shot a couple of times (kissed her once, won her a roller disco award and she got drunk and tried to make out with him, etc) but for it to actually happen made me so mad. FINAL EPISODE: PERFECT CLOSURE! I bought the season simply for the series finale and the return of Kelso and Eric. One thing that really ticked me off was that the one hour "Making of the Show" special that aired the night before the finale which had flashbacks, interviews, commentaries, set tours, and anything else a fan could ask for WAS NOT INCLUDED! I am a huge That 70s Show fan and I loved seasons 1-7 but 8 was good for nothing. They easily could have adjusted the story line for the season 8 finale and made it season 7 to completely exclude season 8. It would have been a perfect show then. I reccomend the other seven seasons 5 stars all the way. Enjoy and be groovy. Be very groovy.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Season Ever in the History of Television!, January 3, 2008

Anyone who says otherwise is Helen Keller. NOTHING was funny. Seriously. It's sad. I cringe when I catch pieces of it. What a shame for such a great comedy to go out this badly. Hyde marries a stripper? Jackie and Fez? Randy? Everything is completely ridiculous, and cruel, might I add. It's so obvious that the writers did not care anymore about this show or its characters. And the reviewer who said they turned Hyde into Bud was right. It was such a shame. They ruined him and the whole point of his character. They made this point to show that he was better than that, and then they have him get drunk and marry a stripper and try to pass her off, after only a few episodes, as the love of his life? Are you kidding me? They just swept the seven years of Jackie and Hyde buildup under the rug for no reason, split them up in the most cruel manner possible, acted as if their relationship never happened, and then forced Jackie and Fez together in the last seconds, again, like we were stupid and were going to believe that they were soul mates or something. Please. It was disgusting. The finale is a rip off, too. Not even Eric and Donna and their seven year relationship was given its proper due. A two minute conversation that got them nowhere? What was the point of it all then? And Randy - useless and unfunny. They should have kept Charlie, and Kitty and Red were simply not themselves. First of all, they let Hyde bring home a stripper wife and let them live in the basement with her. How pathetic, and she was just gross, by the way, putting her dirty, bare feet on their kitchen table. Ew. The whole thing just makes me sick and makes me feel as if I wasted seven years of my life watching this great show, all to see it turn to this, for greed. I will NEVER buy this DVD. You couldn't pay me to bring it into my home.

1.0 out of 5 stars Save your money!, January 16, 2008
This review is from: That '70s Show - Season 8 (DVD)
I am a HUGE fan of That 70's show! I love this show very much and I highly recommend buying seasons 1-7. But I do not recommend purchasing Season 8.

In my opinion, the departures of Topher Grace and Ashton Kutcher was not the major problem with season 8. No, the real MAJOR problem was that the shows "powers that be" broke up Hyde and Jackie! Huge mistake!!

Hyde (Danny Masterson) and Jackie (Mila Kunis) were the most EXCITING couple on the show. They had AMAZING chemistry! They could throw banter back and forth and they were so funny and sexy together.

That and the writing was lacking in the last season. Subsequently, the show was not the same funny, fresh, and smart sitcom it used to be, sadly.

3.0 out of 5 stars That 70's Show Took Quite A Turn In Season 8, August 20, 2010

Season 8 was hated by most fans, and I mean put the emphasis on HATED. A few things explains that; Eric was "in Africa" and was not present at all in season 8 except for the finale (actor Topher Grace wanted to move on in his acting career and was working on Spiderman 3 at the time), Kelso was only present in a handful of episodes including the finale, Hyde married Samantha (a stripper he met in Vegas), plus the new guy who is supposed to fill in as some kind of replacement for Eric's absence, Randy, was generally poorly received.

Looking at it that way it's easy to see why season 8 is constantly said to be the worst and weak. Plus looking at an entire season without Eric seems impossible, he is such an important part of the show; after all this is HIS family, HIS friends, HIS basement...well you get the idea and you just can't ignore that fact. Kelso was present for a few episodes and it certainly helped but he too was an important part of That 70's Show (actor Ashton Kutcher also wanted to move on with his acting career and at the time was filming The Guardian). That said I didn't hate the new guy Randy, you either love him or hate him, I thought he was an interesting character. If you hate Randy I understand you, it's kinda hard to swallow that he is supposed to replace Eric, however if you hate it you are not alone, Fez did too and it made this situation very funny! (You could probably appeal to how Fez feels!) Many fans felt that breaking up Hyde and Jackie was a big mistake and many feel a particularly low point of the season was when an erotic dancer Hyde married arrived to Point Place. Also many fans of the show felt that the Jackie-Fez relationship should never have happened and was another msitake. There are still a few memorable episodes but hardcore fans of the first 7 seasons will probably not find much to enjoy out of season 8 except the finale.

As hated as it is season 8 does have its good moments, for instance look at the finale, it was done in a proper manner and Eric and Kelso are back. If there's one thing you have to like about season 8 it's the finale! Season 8 also lead to some interesting scenarios, having Fez and Jackie live together was quite funny at times and Hyde owning and managing a record store was terrific. There's also more of Hyde's father and his sister from season 7, and Fez's relationship with his landlord Phantom was neat. I wish some things would have been different so that season 8 could be a proper ending season to the show but you have to understand that they had a contract for an 8th season and even if they lost 2 of the main actors they had to continue. Maybe fan would have preferred to have the show end with season 7, maybe that was the thing to do but I don't hate season 8 just like I don't love it. I don't think season 8 was absolute garbage nor do I think that it was the worst season ever in the history of television. It's obviously the weakest season of the show but I still enjoyed it for what it was. However I'm not sure I can really recommend it! I'll give it 3 stars.

1.0 out of 5 stars Season 8 Is A No!!!!, January 14, 2008
This review is from: That '70s Show - Season 8 (DVD)
Season 8 was absolutely awful and that was mainly because the show was missing its 2 largest characters [Eric and Kelso] and to further aggravate the situation that added some guy named "Randy". Randy's character was boring, phony and just plain sucked - which further pissed off loyal fans. So not only did we lose 2 BIG characters - they were replaced with 1 dumbass. On a more personal note, I also did not enjoy the "new and improved Blonde" Donna either.

It was sad to see such an wonderful show, end on such a ridiculous note because the other seasons [esp. 1-6] were just perfect, comedic genius - everything from the characters to the stories were just awesome!!!

This is why I gave the lowest ranking to season 8 because not only was it awful but compared to the other seasons it was just a rancid mess!!!!

I am just going to pretend that the show only had 6 seasons (because I really did not like 7 either) - that way I can continue to enjoy the show in its "entirety".

Maybe the ratings did drop after Eric and Kelso left, but let's be real. It was "That 70's Show", not "That 80's Show".

The only thing that really bothered me throughout Season 8 was the seemingly desperate attempts to pair everybody off. I knew guys like Randy (believe me, the actor conveyed him perfectly) and he was NOT someone Donna would have hooked up with, so the series worked out in that respect anyway. But the pairing off of Jackie and Fez (sorry if I spoiled it for anyone) just really seemed forced. Jackie would have married fame or money, preferably both. It would have taken a Ditch Witch and dynamite to give her enough depth to appreciate anything else. And Fez would have ended up playing the hotel club circuit, just as he occasionally portrayed on the series. Yep, I also knew guys like Fez.

As throughout the series, the music in Season 8 was great, even as it was in the "real world". There were some awesome artists in the 70s, and it's good to hear them all again.

The finale was as it should be. Eric and Donna belonged together, at least for awhile. Let's just all hope their union didn't become one of the statistics. The 70's was, after all, the beginning of the 50% or more divorce rate!

Don't be too critical, sit back and enjoy the last season of what was a great portrayal of the last hurrah of a groovy time.

1.0 out of 5 stars Andy Gibb reference was the only funny thing, May 26, 2009
This review is from: That '70s Show - Season 8 (DVD)
When Randy told Kelso he could impersonate Cher, Kelso made a snarky Andy Gibb reference. That was the only time I laughed during this entire season (although the Red/Leo bonding was kind of a shining star)

It was just horribly bad. It went from a brilliant show (Love Red going on about Gilligan's island) which reminded me of growing up in the 70s, to being something so bad, that it rivaled the lousy shows my daughters tend to enjoy (i.e. Zach and Cody, Drake and Josh, iCarly).

There is a plethora of horrible setup shows.

Jackie chasing after Fez... shudder.

Just glaringly horrible. Horrible dialog. Horrible jokes. Horrible everything.

It isn't "That 70's show". It's some idiotic ridiculous bunch of garbage that used the same characters and actors (i.e. It's the Superman IV of the series)
