Book Description

You know, being friends with two cute boys does have its benefits.

There's Danny. Danny is a golden boy in every way. He has dreamy blue eyes and blonde hair that always looks perfect, even when it’s windblown or been stuck under a football helmet. He’s the boy every girl crushes on. The boy I get into trouble with, the boy I fight with, the hot quarterback no girl can resist, not even me. Being with Danny is like being on an adventure. He has a bright, contagious smile and abs to die for. He’s pretty much irresistible.

Equally crush worthy is Phillip. Adorable, sweet Phillip, who I have known since birth.  Phillip has dark hair, a perfect smile, brown eyes, and the sexiest voice I have ever heard. He’s the boy I talk to every night before I go to sleep. The boy who rescues me, the boy who can read my mind, the boy who is always there for me, the boy who tries to keep me out of trouble, the boy who irritatingly keeps getting hotter, and whose strong arms always seem to find their way around me.  And when he gives me that grin, I can never say no.

One boy will give me my very first kiss.
One boy will teach me to make out.
One boy will take me to prom.
And finally, one boy will ask me to marry him.
They will both be my best friends.
But only one of them will be the boy I fall in love with.
Only one of them is That Boy.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"This was so freaking good! Loved it." - Abbi Glines, Author.

"After reading this novel, I really want Jadyn to be my best friend. She’s hilarious, sarcastic, tough, adorable, relatable, and a little tomboyish. She’s confident, but she’s not self-absorbed. She’s just flat-out awesome. You really become apart of Jadyn’s life while reading this novel. This is a wonderful story that will make you feel every emotion.

"Overall, That Boy is a happy story that will have you cracking up and squealing in delight, but it also has some extremely touching and emotional moments that will break your heart. There were a few scenes that had me bawling like a baby. I think the reason this story affected me so much was because it was so realistic."

"I gave That Boy by Jillian Dodd 4 STARS (4.5 STARS). I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS NOVEL!" -Eating, Reading, and Dreaming

"I loved That Boy! I could relate myself to Jay and understand her personality. I LOVED IT! It is hard not to picture Danny, the football star, completely worth crushing over. Then there is Phillip, the boy next door that grew up totally hot and also crush worthy. Jay finds herself going to one of them for help on how to kiss. Umm hello, hot young boy, being asked to kiss (and make out with!) the girl next door. Yep let’s get this going. Who will remain her best friend? Who will she fall in love with? You must read this to find out!" - Julie B, The Readiacs

"Jillian has such a clever way with words. I literally laughed and cried throughout this book. There are some things that are very unexpected and heartbreaking that happen. You just feel so connected to all the characters in Jadyn's life, including her parents, friends, and friends parents. I couldn't help but get wrapped up in her lifeI really just love this book. I can't wait for more. (I hope there's more!) I would recommend this book to everyone who I know. You can't help but to fall in love with this book.

"Buy it! You'll love it!" -Amber R, AwesomeSauce Book Club

5.0 out of 5 stars AwesomeSauce Book! Check it out! June 3, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
This was the first book I've ever read by Jillian and I have to say, I can't wait for me.

I love the way this book starts out. It moves very quickly and flows so well. I love reading about Jadyn's life from such a young age and seeing things progress. As an adult reading through someone's life when they are a lot younger than you, you would think that it would be boring or hard to read. However, the way that Jillian writes is extremely witty and can't wait to see the antics that Jadyn , Phillip, and Danny get into next.

Jillian has such a clever way with words. I literally laughed and cried throughout this book. There are some things that are very unexpected and heartbreaking that happen.

You just feel so connected to all the characters in Jadyn's life, including her parents, friends, and friends parents. I couldn't help but get wrapped up in her life.

The triangle between Jadyn, Danny, and Phillip is great. They're all such great friends and have such a good connection with each other. Even though at first Jadyn hated Danny when he moved into the neighbor.

I really just love this book. I can't wait for more. (I hope there's more!) I would recommend this book to everyone who I know. You can't help but to fall in love with this book.

Buy it! You'll love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's That GOOD :) December 3, 2011

What the hell?!!!!

That's JJ's mantra after all, "what the hell." I'm so happy I picked up this book. It made me a very very happy girl. This book was a surprise hit for me. It was a unique story about a girl and her two best friends, Phillip & Daniel, and which of these boys is "That Boy", the boy she eventually ends up with. The way this book was written, it was like reading JJ's diary, with illustrations and all (a very cute touch that just added to it's charm). The book started off where the book eventually ends, her at her engagement party declining a marriage proposal, we just dont know to whom she is declining. We then flashback to how everything began. It takes us to the very beginning, from birth to college, all in JJ's POV and all with Phillip and Daniel always at her side. Oh, and as a side note, may I add that I wished I had two gorgeous guy BFFs? I wish I was "That Girl" growing up. lol. Anyway, I digress, whoops my bad :) Anyway, what really surprised me was that it wasnt yor typical love triangle story and i was perfectly okay with it. I loved their friendship too much and I found myself worrying along with JJ that taking the next step with one of them would ruin one or both friendships. Throughout the book, she comes awfully close to that line you cross between friends and something more. I really loved this story and I'm happy to read that the author is working on a sequel. So which boy is That Boy? Just read it and find out. Definitely recommend :)

I personally didn't connect with female lead. I thought she acted immature all the time. I didn't feel the turn in her relationship with Phillip, from plutonic to more. Read more
