Biography

Jerry Lee Lewis, the Killer, is the rock n' roll singer-songwriter and pianist, whose enduring image will be him standing at the piano, limbs flailing, quiff flying, while he belts out "Great Balls of Fire" - his signature tune.

Lewis developed his style early, mixing boogie-woogie, rock, gospel and rhythm and blues. As a youth he was expelled from university for playing 'worldly' music. He moved… Read more in Amazon's Jerry Lee Lewis Store

5.0 out of 5 stars Revealing!!!, July 14, 2003
This review is from: That Breathless Cat (Audio CD)
This disc is actually an unrehearsed set, recorded in Memphis(?) around the filming of "GREAT BALLS OF FIRE". I picked this up at about that time and it is simply great! This is Jerry Lee and a piano,ONLY. He has some admirers setting around, there is some talk and chatter, and lots of piano playing, from a very out of contolled take of "Rockin My Life Away,to a well controlled vocal of the same,to Lovin Up A Storm,Lucille, Ubangi Stomp, and on and on. At one point the Killer says to no one inparticular"I can play a piana,son"... and BOY! does he prove it on this set!!!There are lots of snippets of tunes here, but what an intimate glimpse into JLL,it's almost like being beside the man in the studio,A whole lotta fun!!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Too Much Cat Nip, July 21, 2006

This is a study in short attention spans. Jerry Lee meanders, banters, does everything BUT finish a song. I always have loved the Killa, but here he seems a little too stoned--or not stoned enough. However, if you like your doses of boogie woogie brilliance in nanoseconds, this is the disc for you. As an added bonus, you get the thrill of hearing tape being rewound.
