Pretty good, relaxing songs,

Ms Kirkham's vocals may be a touch unremarkable but she wrote all the songs and can sing in key and has a nice gentle voice, like a talented girl who lives next door. I actually found this CD very relaxing, not unlike Jann Arden. I really like most of the songs, and this is something you can enjoy with your girl in the evening.

An overload of sugary vocals -- flat and lacking in shades.,

And I thought Abra Moore's voice was limited. Stephanie Kirkham reminds me of a friend of mine who played keyboards and sang with me in a band, unable to distinguish between singing and talking, unable to project, and unable to muster anything but a naive girlish whine. As a result all the songs sound almost identical, with the same persona uttering the lyrics. The songwriting is unremarkable, though nice production touches give this record a little more to chew on, such as the almost Gemma Hayes-like heavy, almost tech beat of "Inappropriate", the heavily tremoloed guitar that cushions "Monday Morning", and the spare tinkling of "Never in a Million Years", which reminds me of Lush's "Light from a Dead Star" in a good way. I'd say if you're still interested in this record, hunt it down in bargain bins. I saw about a dozen copies of this record at Amoeba and was able to pick it up for less than five dollars. Kirkham really needs to learn how to sing, or at least vocalize -- Miki Berenyi from Lush isn't much of a singer either, but what a little personality will do for you...
