4.0 out of 5 stars A Thought-Provoking Novel, October 19, 2009
This review is from: That One Moment (Urban Soul) (Paperback)
Lia, Rena, Jasmine, and Dee Dee are four friends that each yearn for something different in their lives. Lia is a young, slightly arrogant, successful attorney for Virgin Records. Lia has always been career driven and marriage is the furthest thing from her mind. But when two different men enter her life and tragedy strikes, Lia may gain a new perspective. Rena has been in a relationship with her boyfriend for four years. Rena has been longing for a walk down the aisle, but now she wonders if she's actually found "Mr. Right" after all. Jasmine has always used her looks to get what she wants out of men. Jasmine's life hits a curve ball when a good man enters her life. Will she feel worthy enough to accept his love? Dee Dee has a loving husband and child. Her life seems perfect until her very wealthy ex-boyfriend comes back into the picture. Will Dee Dee be willing to sacrifice her stable home for an old love?

That One Moment is a though-provoking novel by Terese Lorae Smauldon. Smauldon brings a good story about the very different lives of four long-time friends. You will see the transformation of these women as they go through various trials and tribulations in their lives. Each woman had to do some self-evaluation in order to find out what direction their life was taking. This book is full of realistic yet harsh life lessons that some women will be able to relate to. That One Moment is a wonderful book about the strength and complexities of female friendships.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely a MUST READ!, June 10, 2009
This review is from: That One Moment (Urban Soul) (Paperback)
I really enjoyed reading this book. It had me going from page 1. I finished it in less than 3 days. I just could not put it down. There was something about every character that I was able to relate to. I would recommend this to ANYONE! I bought a few copies and gave them to friends! I can't wait for the sequel. I look forward to whatever else the author has to offer.

5.0 out of 5 stars One Decision Can Change Everything, February 26, 2011
By
This review is from: That One Moment (Urban Soul) (Paperback)
In That One Moment by Terese Lorae Smauldon, readers are introduced to Lia, Dee Dee, Rena, and Jas, four friends dealing with different issues in their lives. These women have the task of coming to terms with decisions that cannot be ignored.

Lia is a half-black, half-Korean beauty that is used to the finer things in life. She is a VP for Virgin Records and has everything she needs except a love life. Ty is a new tenant in Lia's building that she cannot stop thinking about. Ty is a businessman that has his life together but who is also looking to settle down. Will both give in to the attraction they feel for each other?

Dee Dee is married to a wonderful man but not satisfied. Dee Dee's husband, Deron, has been distant making her question their union. When Dee Dee's ex-boyfriend, Manny, comes back around she is faced with a harsh decision. Will she make the right one?

Rena is a professor at a well-known university, a mother, and living with her boyfriend, Tak. The couple seems to have it all until Tak makes a decision that changes everything.

Jas has been dealing with some painful memories from her past. Those memories have controlled a big part of her life until she meets Asaji. Asaji is everything she wants and needs in a man, but Jas's issues are causing problems.

That One Moment is a story about friendship, family, and acknowledging true love. The characters were well developed giving readers a realistic look into their lives. The author did a wonderful job in creating a believable storyline that is thought provoking yet entertaining. I could not put this book down. I look forward to reading more from this author. I recommend That One Moment to others.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jessica Brunson, June 18, 2009

I must admit that I really enjoyed this book. I found myself not wanting to put the book down. I would get to one point and try to stop, but then something shocking or exciting happened. I actually got a couple of co-workers to buy it because they saw me reading it everyday!

The author describes each character in a way, in which you can visualize how they look, what they are wearing, how they smell, etc. The deatils of each scene and character were perfect. I think my favorite characters werw Jas and Lia. Jas reminded me off many people that I know and have encountered, so I could relate to many things she was saying. I didn't care for Lia in the beginning. She was rude and uppity and wore her pride on her sleeve. As the book went on and some difficult events happened in her life she finally let some walls down and came into her own.

I was left wanting more at the end of the book, that's why I'm so excited there is a sequel coming out soon!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars BOOK OF THE YEAR!!! :), November 30, 2010
This review is from: That One Moment (Urban Soul) (Paperback)
This book is soooo amazing! I love the style in which Terese Smauldon used in this book, and everything just flowed completely. Every moment was interesting, never dull...and just when you think you could predict what would happen next, you couldn't! I've let Terese Smauldon know how much I love this book...and I absolutely hope that the sequel is just as good if not even better than the first:)
