The Universality of Love,
By A Customer
This review is from: That Place Called Home: A Very Special Love Story (Paperback)
Being familiar with the story, I was indeed, anticipating its publication to judge if it had, indeed, been done justice. I was not disappointed. A quick read--filled with humor--never maudlin--which relates the story of the first Roman Catholic Nun to be permitted to legally become a mother--and her adopted daughter, Barbara, who was initially HIV positive, later to develop full blown Aids. The story produces a well spring of emotions in the reader. Place on your "must read" list.

This review is from: That Place Called Home: A Very Special Love Story (Paperback)
This was a gentle, touching story of two souls finding each other at just the right time and of the brief life they shared together. It is an easy read that provides glimpses into living with AIDS during the '80's and '90's, the life of a Roman Catholic Sister and life between a mother and daughter. Sister Mary Ann writes with openess and feeling without being overly sentimental or maudlin. The story touched my heart without breaking it.I felt both saddened by Sister Mary Ann's loss and inspired by her tribute to her daughter, Barbara, and her continued effort to build awareness about HIV/AIDS. I'll be sharing this one with friends!
