I've read this book many, many times. This last time I was seeking an answer from God and wondering if what I was hearing was really the voice of the Lord. I learned to seek the Lord not the answer, to focus on God not just the tools He uses in our lives. I learned some steps to be really open to hearing God's voice.

This is easy to read narrative story will hold the reader's attention well. The author shares stories of situations in which he successfully discerned the "voice of God" and other times when he failed. He examines both his successes and failures and brings the reader to an understanding of the principles by which each one of us can learn to listen to "God's voice" for personal direction. That fact that he shares his failures with the reader lends even greater credibility to his successes. This is the first book I've read by L. Cunningham, but not the last. I recommend the book to anyone who is honestly seeking God's direction in his or her lives. It doesn't give pat answers and formulas, but it does offer biblical principles that have been tested by others throughout the centuries and today, as Cunningham attests to in the book. The guidance of God will take you closer to the heart of God.

Wow! I was amazed at all the great things God wants to do through people by hearing His voice and following the direction He gives. There are so many exciting stories in this book. Much of the initial involvement of Loren Cunningham in perceiving God's will as told in his book occurred while he was still in his 20s. Anyone who is under 20 or over 20 is going to find a pathway to knowing God's will and the humility that leads them into a lifetime of ACTION. The stories are compelling. There is lasting fruit to make the dramatic supernatural ideas current and credible. This will surely stir your soul - what a great book...

What makes this book interesting and personal is the series of events that showed God's calling for Loren Cunningham and how he chose to heed that calling, which eventually led him to form YWAM (Youth With A Mission). From each of his own real-life encounters with God, he learnt how to discern the voice of God in the midst of troubles and noises. Loren quoted a few principles such as the Wise Men (how God led the 3 wise men to the birthplace of Jesus) principle where God will often use 2 or more spiritually sensitive people to confirm what He is telling you. Loren shared what he gained and learnt from his own direct trials. As an example, he related the incident between him and his ex-church Assemblies of God (AOG) where he had to make the painful and difficult decision of leaving AOG in order to follow God's call for him. From this event, he learnt that the opposition of men can actually be a guidance from God himself. Finally, the book ends with 12 points to remember with regards to hearing the voice of God.

This book is not only subjected to readers who are believers (Christians), but to anyone who is searching for a God somewhere out there.

A captivating account of a young man who dares to do what he believes God is telling him. Eventually Loren Cunningham's obedience results in thousands of others taking steps of faith to carry the message of Jesus Christ to every nation on earth - through the organization he founds, Youth With A Mission. The story is well told; the lesson is clearly communicated: we can hear the voice of God - though not necessarily with our ears

I don't easily say "this book can change your life" but it is so very true.

Read for yourself and see... it's a page turner that I've heard many describe as "impossible to put down." I've read this book 3 times in 2 languages (English & French) and it never fails to inspire.

"Is that Really You God?" Follows the life of Loren Cunningham from his youth through the pioneering and establishment of Youth With A Mission (YWAM) - the world's largest inter-denominational missions movement. The unbelievable challenges that are surmounted by this fledgling movement illustrate God's incredible desire to speak to and through young people from all nations.

In fact I have the urge to read it over and over again that it becomes an important guide in my walk with God--not to make it like the Bible, but the message of the book itself is a revelation to me. Thanks Loren and Jannie.

Great book, I love it and read once a year. However, I was excited when I saw it in kindle version, but once I got it it looks like a kid put it together.

This book was simply wonderful, so much so that I read it from cover to cover in just one day, but the lessons I learned from it are sure to last a lifetime. Like Mr. Cunningham, I too have been able to hear the voice of the Lord quite often. Though other Christians around me have told me that it is quite an "uncommon" gift. But once I began to read Mr. Cunningham's book, I realized that it's NOT uncommon, or at least it should not be! And Mr. Cunningham's tales of the amazing things that can happen when one follows the voice of the Lord are not only exciting and awe-inspiring, but humbling. I have become quite inspired by Mr. Cunningham and hope that the Lord may teach me to be as patient, as open (to listening), and as faithful as Loren and his companions. Also given in the back of this book are twelve steps to hearing the Lord. Several of these steps I have been using before I ever read this book (and can attest that they work!), but there are some that I was not aware of until now, and am quite happy to put them to daily use. If you think you are hearing the voice of the Lord, definitely pick up this book. You will thank me (and Loren) for it!

My son 24 yr old son did a DTS training in Bangladesh for 5 months with YWAM this year. Is That Really You God was an assigned reading along with Making Jesus Lord by Lauren Cunningham. Both books changed his life and now ours as well. After reading this I purchased 4 more copies to give away. Your Christianity will be challenged and provoked.
