If you liked 'Local Hero', you'll like this, November 10, 2009
It is hard to believe there is not a single review of 'That Sinking Feeling'. 'Sinking' is a funny, low-keyed, humorous look at four losers from the 'fictitious' city of Glasgow who are unemployed, clueless slackers who are desperately seeking some cash for fast food, cars, and, of course, girls.
One of them cooks up the idea to dress up as cleaning ladies, and pilfer stainless steel sinks.
Of course, this is a stupid idea, but results in a dry humorous movie in the same vein as Bill Forsyth's most famous film, 'Local Hero'. I don't think it's as good as 'Hero', or even the under appreciated 'Gregory's Girl'. However, this was Forsyth's first widely distributed film, and gives lots of hints at things to come.
'That Sinking Feeling' is a great film! Highly recommended, especially if you like very dry humor, with lots of perplexing and quirky characters. Four and a half stars! Buy this now!
