Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

PreSchool-Grade 1-A friendship story that offers a gentle lesson about sharing. Two boys recount how they like to share everything-food, a bike, a book. That is, until they both spot a toad at the same time and each one claims it as his own. While they argue, the animal hops away and the two youngsters take their anger out on a rock. "We kick until/our mad is gone./We kick until/we're home, and then,/John and I/are friends again." The rhymed verse is on the verso, set against a richly colored background. The right-hand page features watercolor cartoons that will get kids' attention. A simple picture book that can double as an easy reader.

What a joy to find such a pleasant positive book! The story is about two young boys that share everything until they find a toad and can't decide who gets to keep it. My 3 year old son insists that we read it everyday. It teaches young children the importance of sharing and problem solving. A great book for all family collections.

I purchased this book to supplement the reading material for our homeschooled first grade grandson. When he actually laughs out loud at a book he is reading by himself, I know its good!
