In the late 1970's, Paul Cebar was a Wednesday-night Open Mic regular at the Blue River Cafe in Milwaukee. Summer, winter, rain or steam, Paul patiently climbed onto that stage night after night, year after year, and perfected his act. Not only did his singing & guitar playing mature and ripen, but his ability to absorb music from Louis Jordan to -- well, I can't put a top limit on Paul's dedication to listening and metabolising everything he hears, and searching out what he hasn't heard before. In his case, practice has made perfect. He has transcended his teachers and the joy of making music is evident in his recordings. He is unique in every way, a walking, breathing, and very kind man who knows more about the history of soul and rock than most of us will ever know. But the real deal is, PAUL CEBAR ROCKS! Check him out in person! Meanwhile, this was one of his first albums (perhaps the very first), when Robyn Pluer was still in the band. Every song is a kick. Check out Paul's later CD's, too.

Paul Cebar & The Milwaukeeans offer some of the most "feel good" and at the same time, intelligent, music out today. As this CD will demonstrate, their music is a combination of funk, rock and soul that will knock your socks off and keep you boppin' all night long. Although all of their CDs are fantastic, especially this earlier one, they must be experienced LIVE to be truly appreciated -- then you won't be able to get enough of them!

I have worn out 2 cd players listening to this cd. This captures the late 80s musical scene, at the top of which was Paul Cebar. Musical syncretist and crypto-columnist, he and his band are like no other. Kind of a Dr. John of the North.
