We are not meant to carry the burdens we hold....,
By
This review is from: That Was Then, This Is Now: This Broken Vessel Restored (Paperback)
"I am a child of the King, and I can do all thing thur Christ who strengthens me. No matter what challenges try to over take me I will use my voice and cry out to the one that can do anything but fail"Why isn't that something we believe in our storm? We ask why me and question GOD's ability when we struggle or fail. Paulette Harper presents us with a powerful message of praise as she opens her heart and bares her soul, exposing her insecurities, hurts and struggles. But also allowing us to come along on her journey of healing and faith. Paulette shows us that even though we come to church and sing praises, shout, dance and pray, some often go home to continue the cycle of abuse, worthlessness, and self destruction. Even those who bring us the word aren't exempt. But God's promise in Isaiah 10:27 (KJV): And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from thy neck and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing. We have to remember, that if we turn ourselves and our problems to the Master they can be removed, stop trying to hold onto things, thinking we can fix or heal on our own. You have to have the faith to endure the storm and know that your anointing, and your healing is on the way. Thank you Paulette for using your experience as a stepping stone of faith that will no doubt be helpful for someone to know GOD on a more personal level. "That Was Then, This is Now: This Broken vessel Restored" by Paulette Harper is a beautifully written, Christ inspired testimony of a person who has been reclaimed into the family of God. Despite a myriad of setbacks and disappointments, Ms. Harper aptly demonstrates in her testimony that you can do all things through Christ who give you the strength. In fact, this rich and powerful spiritual treatise takes you on an incredible journey demonstrating how the effectual working of the Holy Spirit, after having fallen short of his love, can restore you back into the love of God and the perfection of his will. This spiritually rich and priceless document should be particularly read by men and women who are struggling with doubts, discouragements and defeat and are in need of second chances in the love of God. Review:That Was Then, This Is Now Paulette Harper Review: Kathy Glanton The introduction gives a good review of what you can expect from reading the book. I enjoyed it immensely, because I related to many of the same struggles as the author. A book will always capture my attention if I can personally relate to what it says. When passages references sound doctrine, that makes it more credible and you continue to read until the end. I actually could not put it down until I completed it, and I actually found myself sharing what I was reading with one of my co-workers as I read something. Especially if you are having a particular struggle that day, it reminded you GOD is in control and HE is for sure working things out! My co-worker wants to read it, because she saw me so engrossed in it, especially on lunch breaks! I would definitely recommend purchasing this real life story! Kathy Glanton October 2, 2009

Paulette Harper's That was Then, This Is Now-this broken vessel restored is a very good inspirational book that recounts God's promises and assurances. Ms. Harper uses her life experience and the Word of God to tell how a season of trial revealed her heart and God's purposes for her life. I do not usually read this type of book but in reading Ms. Harper's book I found her to be open about how she reacted to an event in her life that God used to promote her.She has an easy to read writing style and brings in scriptures from more than one version of the Bible to give the reader the light of scripture to brighten a place in life that may be dark. She has produced a book that has a lot to meditate on in a private devotional period or in a group study. It is a very book for anyone who is in a time of testing or has come through a trial. She affirms the goodness of God both then and now and that is good all the time.

THERE'S MORE THAN WHAT YOU SEE,
This review is from: That Was Then, This Is Now: This Broken Vessel Restored (Paperback)
That was Then, This is now is an edifying testimony of a survivor. Paulette Harper has given us principles that were born out of her experience. Every reader should be encouraged as they read this book and make their own journey for THEN to NOW. This book will cause believers to rise in faith as they get up from that place called SETBACK. Paulette ministers hope and the power to believe God.My only disppointment with this book was that Paulette wasn't transparent enough. There were only a few references to the divorce and they were glossed over. I thought that we would see more of Paulette's heart but we didn't. Overall it was a great read that will stimulate faith in the reader.

Your Testimony Is Not Your Own,
This review is from: That Was Then, This Is Now: This Broken Vessel Restored (Paperback)
With vulnerability that is to be applauded Paulette Harper openly shares herself with others so that they might choose to be healed.Free from the bonds of inhibition Ms. Harper's candor combined with scripture is the invitation to healing so many seek. Author Harper's revelations will seem familiar to some. To others her bold words will uncover unhealed wounds buried under layers of minutia. Through it all, her ministering words reach out to the seeking as well as those who may not even realize they are on a hunt. That Was Then This Is Now clearly shows the reader that past failures and repetitious errors do not disqualify us from the original plans God has for our lives. Dr. Linda F. That Was Then, This is Now by Paulette Harper is a story about a woman's struggle to overcome what she considered to be the greatest obstacles and disappointments in her life. Paulette shares her life with us, the readers, of how she overcame a broken marriage and was able to strive for bigger and better things. She incorporates scripture to help sooth us and let us know that we are not alone; and we can always turn to God for help.I loved the way she intertwined her story and tales from the Bible, this was an eye-opening account where Ms. Harper has bared her soul for all to experience in her pain, sorrow and re-birth. I recommend That Was Then, This is Now to readers of Christian fiction as well as people who feel like they are lost with no one to help them. Reviewed by: Cheryl Hayes APOOO BookClub

An Indispensable Guide To True Spiritual Growth,
By
This review is from: That Was Then, This Is Now: This Broken Vessel Restored (Paperback)
"In Him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will." Ephesians 1:11 When you've lost your job, your home, your car, and your savings, or your child dies from a sudden, mysterious illness, or you face incredible adversity everywhere you turn, it's often difficult to embrace the spirit of the aforementioned biblical scripture. Regardless of the source, pain and suffering can be formidable - if not deadly - adversaries with which to contend, and our prolonged battles with them more often than not leave us spiritually and emotionally drained - not encouraged and hopeful. In That Was Then, This Is Now, though, author Paulette Harper provides the reader with a detailed guide to dealing effectively with the various difficulties we all experience in life. Drawing primarily on a dark extended period of her own life, Harper offers the reader invaluable insight into the real causes of - and solutions to - the challenges that will inevitably come our way. Speaking with considerable wisdom and sage authority, she presents readers with the invaluable tools necessary for laying an unfaltering spiritual foundation in their own lives. To her credit, what separates Harper's tome from many other inspirational titles is her sound reliance on biblical scripture. Instead of depending on clichéd platitudes and generalized, one-size-fits-all aphorisms, Harper provides the reader with detailed analysis and explanation of numerous biblical passages, shedding much needed light on their significance in our everyday lives, and ultimately revealing the true purposes of the trials and tribulations that distract us along the road to spiritual victory. That Was Then, This Is Now is an indispensable addition to the personal library of anyone committed to living a life of true purpose and divine destiny. Whether we realize it or not, no one can make it through life's difficulties alone, and, with excellent guides like That Was Then, our spiritual travels no longer have to be as arduous or cumbersome to endure.
