Book Description

That Wedding, book two of the That Boy Series.
The gorgeous engagement ring on my finger mimics my happiness.
I feel so sparkly, glittery, and full of promise, because I absolutely know he's that boy.
The boy I want to marry. My prince. My happily ever after.
But then our pastor starts asking lots of questions.
His parents say I haven't dealt with my past.
I have horrible wedding disaster dreams.
I can't find the perfect dress.
I have to manipulate him to get my way.
An old boyfriend asks me to run away with him.
My best friend says I'm going to ruin everything.
And forever starts to sound like a really long time.
Which totally freaks me out and makes me question everything I know.
Should best friends get married?
Will my past affect our relationship?
Are my horrible dreams a warning?
Will I ever find a dress?
Could his sexiness be clouding my judgment?
Am I going to ruin everything?
Or is it just a case of cold feet?
And then I have to decide. Am I willing to give up on true love forever, or am I going to listen to my heart and marry him?

Review

After learning in That Boy who Jadyn really is as a woman, in That Wedding, she learns what she can become as a woman with the person she loves by her side.   Jadyn's journey has her realizing that perhaps getting married doesn't mean giving up the person you are, but rather finding someone that loves you for that person and making you even better than you even dreamed you could be.  How being with and loving your best friend and finding the man you are destined to be with, only makes you more of who you are because they bring out the best parts of you... if you let them.  And the question is... can Jadyn let herself be loved like that?  So yes, while That Wedding is more lighthearted and funny, and steamy, don't be fooled by thinking it is in any way less profound and moving in Jadyn's life journey. This book is for anyone that wants to be taken on a wonderful journey that will bring you a beautiful romance, laughs, tears, and make you fall in love with a book and its characters!  Those are the best kinds of books in my opinion!  - Jennifer Howell, Late Bloomer Online

Wedding stuff aside, it's the progression they make as a couple along with Jadyn's individual growth which form the core of the book. The wedding planning is just the conduit that leads to this growth. Did I worry Philip was ever going to say "you're too much work" and walk away? Hell no. Because he loves her! He's loved her forever and they're meant to be and Philip is awesome and....okay. Breathe. I'm stopping. - 10/10 stars from I LOVE YA FICTION

I absolutely loved this book. It's romantic, glittery, sexy, charming and so so dreamy. It is a fairy tale story. - Fanatic Reader

5.0 out of 5 stars That Wedding is Fantastic! February 10, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
So freaking amazing! I cannot even begin to describe how much I loved this book. Getting back into the lives of Jadyn, Phillip, and Danny was wonderful. I felt like I was reconnecting with friends I haven't seen in ahwile. I loved watching Jadyn grow up in this book, I loved watching Phillip be in love with Jadyn, and Danny...he is hilarious as always. From the STD incident, to the XXX wedding theme, to the flashbacks of college life, to the planning of the wedding everything was just perfect. I have never laughed and cried so much while reading a book before. It was sweet, endearing, funny, heart wrenching, and I couldn't get enough. The only bad part was, the book had to end! Ms. Dodd did a wonderful job of bringing these characters to life and weaving the storyline to make you feel like you were there. That is not something every author can do. I do not give 5 stars out lightly. Five stars are reserved for books where I cry and laugh, am thinking about the characters hours and even days afterwards, and books that I will most definitely reread. That Wedding fits all these categories. If you have not read That Boy and That Wedding you are for sure missing out!

Ms. Dodd did an amazing writing the sequel to That Boy, which I also loved. I couldn't put this book down. It was sweet, funny, and makes u want to fall in love all over again. Jayden has grown so much in this book and I loved reading about it. Except for the Keggers part, I kinda wanted to slap her. Danny is still funny and Lori you can't help but love. And Phillip what can I say I absolutely adore Phillip. Can't wait for That Baby.

I wasn't a big fan of this book. In fact, I struggled to finish it.

Main issues:

1) Jadyn is not the same character she was in That Boy. She's petty, manipulative, insecure, spoiled, and often a complete witch. She treats Phillip pretty badly throughout the book, culminating in the whole "pity hire" scene. She was unlikable - all the negative qualities of Becky Bloomwood (from Confessions of a Shopaholic) without the charming aspects.

2) There!!!!! Are!!!!!! WAY!!!!! TOO!!! MANY!!!!!! EXCLAMATIONS!!!!!!! The author often uses 2, 3, 4 (sometimes MORE) exclamations (and sometimes multiple question marks too). Jadyn constantly is EXCLAIMING! EVERYTHING! It's distracting.

3) Too much sex! I like steamy sex scenes as much as the next person, but these characters spend the entire novel having sex. Or talking about how awesome sex is with each other. Or talking with their friends about their prior sexcapades (which Jadyn apparently had MANY of behind the scenes in That Boy that we are just finding out about).

4) Boring! The book was WAY too long and not a lot happens. If Jadyn and Phillip aren't having sex, they're getting drunk. A lot. Jadyn spends SO much time drinking in this book - and the bar scene near the end was pretty awful. Nearly 400 pages of Jadyn drinking and whining about her wedding and EXCLAIMING EVERYTHING!!!! was probably 200 too much.

Sorry, but this book just wasn't that good. I ended up skimming the last 50 pages or so because I was so bored and I didn't want to NOT finish.

2.0 out of 5 stars not as good as That Boy January 15, 2013

Loved That Boy but this just didn't do it for me. Jayden just seemed too flaky and superficial in this book, while that worked in the first book and I adored her character, I guess I expected her to grow up a bit in this book like many reviewers said. It's also falls in a very predictable pattern of sex, sex, more sex, mini Jayden crisis, followed by more sex.... I was really looking forward to the follow up from That Boy but this did not deliver.

4.0 out of 5 stars That Wedding <3 October 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
"This ring means one thing. That I love you. Promise me that no matter what, no matter if we fight, no matter how hopeless things may feel, that you will look at this ring and know that when you love someone, that's all that really matters. That we'll always figure it out together."

That Wedding was SO adorable! My gosh, I'm kinda sorta not really completely jealous of Jadyn! Phillip is such a sweetheart and SO cute at times! The plot was just as constant as the first book, and I loved how issues from the first book arose to be confronted here, forcing Jadyn to grow up a little.

I'll admit that Jadyn's behavior in this one sort of irritated me since she was going out and getting drunk, getting herself into crap situations that she could've totally avoided. I can understand the cold feet about getting married and all, but really it's completely possible to de-stress and have a good time without getting crazy drunk and forgetting about it the next morning. That facet of Jadyn always irritated me. Everyone's obsessed with her (Danny, Phillip, Nick, Bradley, etc.) But really she's not as perfect as they believe her to be.

I loved her character growth though. She and Phillip have the most adorable relationship and I really do believe that they complete each other. There were parts in the book where they would be estranged and I would literally be so nervous. Are they gonna make it? I think anxiously, just praying that Phillip and Jadyn will stay together.

The intimate scenes between Phillip and Jadyn were incredibly sexy, and part of me got mega jealous haha! Hopefully some day I'll get to experience that lol!

Another thing that has me clinging to this series is the Danny/Lori/Jadyn triangle type thing going on.
