"I...I......I! I am that voice!",

And so starts one of the rockhouses on this rare gem from Rufus Thomas' Alligator Records days. The tune is called "Somebody's Got To Go" and I believe this CD is one of the last of his recent recordings. No longer the "Crown Prince of Dance" he has more or less adopted the role of elderstatesman of the blues. Although the tune "The Walk" has Rufus on his dance legs, the rest is straight-up blues, albeit, with a humorous streak. A fine addition to anyone's collection.

The great man of Beale Street!,
By Ricardo Neves Gonzalez (Petrópolis-R.J. Brazil-bluesfan@ig.com.br) - See all my reviews
This review is from: That Woman Is Poison (Audio CD)
Rufus Thomas was that kind of man that, during his entire life, has done all of the possible to promote the name of Memphis, and of course it's most famous street,The Beale Street, all over the world! He,always was terrific, incendiary,on 'live'performances, and isn't a national treasure, he's a world treasure,to be reverenced, eternaly! This album,is really a genuine blues album. It contains all we need from a blues package!
