Soulful musical celebration...Bravo Bobby Hebb!,

This review is from: That's All I Wanna Know (Dig) (Audio CD)
Bobby Hebb original "Sunny" high on the list of most memorable mega standards from the great musical sixties, an incredibly rich musical era that sadly won't happen again as witnessed by the horrid selection on current musically bankrupt airwaves...everyone from Sinatra to his favorite Morgana King recorded this happy song but original by late master is most memorable and makes one want join in to sing along...updated version just as winning as original in this stunning new set "That's All I Wanna Know" that would have set the world on fire in better musical times than now...
Amazing this superb soulful set didn't at least make "Grammy Foundation" take note as music this real and raw is so rare and should have created some attention...opening "Different Strokes" is a hook filled winner that grabs one with first listen as musicians are inspired plus a totally stellar Bobby Hebb vocal is front and center...no filler here, "Cold Cold Night" has a funky edge and driving rhythm arrangement that again sounds great with the first spin...remake of "A Satisfied Mind" is satisfying indeed and these musicians cook, especially that hot sax player! All elements that make for a great musical experience are contained in this classic work filled with a richly varied tapestry of rhythms and emotions & too bad music this great is totally taken for granted...soulful gem "Proud Woman" has a blues edge and new duet version of "Sunny" equals original with a stunning performance and sublime arrangement. "Don't Tear Me Down" is another hot track that is a one of many stand-outs...title "That's All I Wanna Know" is a mesmerizing hypnotic soulful anthem while closing "Love Love Love" is exhuberant and a Northern Soul Classic. Anyone loving classic soul and just great music will be amazed and love this incredible collection filled with tremendous performances that are a final musical celebration and ultimately a real tribute to the legacy of a artist who should have had more widespread success over the years...Bravo Bobby Hebb and thank you for this final engrossing musical treat!!!
