5.0 out of 5 stars An imaginative touch-and-feel simple story
All the books in this series follow the same outline: a little white mouse looks for his puppy/truck/whatever. In this case, the little white mouse is looking for his dragon. 1.0 out of 5 stars Defective
I was so excited to get this book for my son as a gift, luckily I gave it a quick read before I wrapped it up for him. The first page (with the shiny spots)is in Spanish! Ugh, so disappointed and annoyed, I feel like the Usborne quality department should have caught this before it reached the customers as I know this wasn't something that happened to just one book.

This review is from: That's Not My Dragon... (Usborne Touchy-Feely Books) (Board book)
All the books in this series follow the same outline: a little white mouse looks for his puppy/truck/whatever. In this case, the little white mouse is looking for his dragon. The first dragon (on the cover) has ears that are too "tufty." Other dragons on each of the two-page spreads have purple spots that are too slimy (puffy and smooth), pearly claws that are too knobbly, a bright orange tail that's too prickly, and a long pink tongue that's too fuzzy. Finally the little mouse finds his dragon with wings that are "so scaly."

Unlike many other touch-and-feel books, the textures are interesting, different from page to page, and not too small for little fingers. Also, the texture isn't limited to just one spot on each two-page spread: for example, the knobbly-clawed dragon has all six of his adult-fingerprint sized claws made knobbly.

The book itself is sturdy, with very thick but easy-to-turn pages. The drawings are all brightly-coloured simple thick-lined cartoon drawings on solid backgrounds, though the pages are embellished with shimmery stars and swirls (and dragon scales) for a more magical feel than the other books in the series. All of the dragons look very friendly and cuddly (not scary at all), and the little white mouse hiding somewhere on every two-page spread is very sweet . . . and obviously happy when he finds his very own dragon.

Cute and imaginative. A five-star book for the very small.

5.0 out of 5 stars Touchy Feely, April 4, 2006

This review is from: That's Not My Dragon... (Usborne Touchy-Feely Books) (Board book)
All of these bright and durable books were the perfect eye candy for my baby as he was beginning to learn to use his hands and reach out to touch things. He is just about 2 now and still enjoys reading ALL of these books - so do we.

5.0 out of 5 stars My daughter LOVES this book, February 22, 2010
This review is from: That's Not My Dragon... (Usborne Touchy-Feely Books) (Board book)
My mother got this book for my daughter when she was just a few weeks old. We started reading to my daughter when she was 3 days old, and my mom thought she might like a tactile book. She was right - my daughter LOVED it the first time we read it and I would guide her fingers over the different fabrics. She's almost 14 months old, and was just as interested today as she was when we first got it. We also have "That's Not My Monkey" "That's Not My Snowman" "That's Not My Dinosaur" and "That's Not My Fairy," but "That's Not My Dragon" is still her favorite. I bought a copy for a friend who had a baby, and I'm about to buy a copy for my nephew-to-be.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE IT!, May 14, 2009
This review is from: That's Not My Dragon... (Usborne Touchy-Feely Books) (Board book)
This was our first "That's Not My...." book. I got it for my son when he was about 8 months old and he still loves it at 19 months old. We like it so much that we've bought 2 more from the series that we like just as well. Some of the adjectives in this series aren't exactly what I would use in everyday language (ie. "tufty ears" instead of "fluffy" and "squashy wheels" instead of "squishy").... But this is a book that your infant / toddler will want to read over and over again. This book keeps my son busy in his high chair as I make supper or do dishes - he flips through the pages and I'll recite the words.

4.0 out of 5 stars A nice change from the usual books, January 1, 2008
This review is from: That's Not My Dragon... (Usborne Touchy-Feely Books) (Board book)
This is a cute book about a mouse trying to find her dragon. She sees several other dragons, each with a particular feature, like a fuzzy tongue or a prickly tail. She finally finds her dragon with its scaly wings.

There are a variety of textures for a child to touch. The illustrations are very appealing, and the dragons are rather charming, not scary in any way.

It's a nice change from the usual puppy, kitten or bear books we have. My daughter, who is enthralled with Sandra Boyton books, has gotten picky about reading any other books. But, we've had this just for a day, and she has enjoyed it several times already.

The book is very sturdy; the pages are nice and thick. The cover seems to have a thin coat of plastic, which is nice if, like me, you have a child that likes to chew on the spine.

4.0 out of 5 stars My son loves this book, August 29, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My son is 2 1/2 years old and he loves this book before bedtime. However, the story is too short and I wish it was longer. He loves to feel the different textures on every page and is starting to memorize them. We bought the other book "That's not my train" and he loves that book just as much.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another 5 star review, March 15, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: That's Not My Dragon... (Usborne Touchy-Feely Books) (Board book)
Everyone else's reviews are pretty spot on. The book is very durable and has stood up to our 8 month old's teething, grabbing and yanking. I was worried that the "tufty ears" or the "fuzzy tongue" might come out in pieces if yanked on too hard (like stuffed animal fur) but not one piece has come out. The pages are nice and chunky and easy for him to turn. The colors are very bright, which is an added bonus because after I read the page to him I tell him what color the dragon is. The touchy-feely part is a nice size on each page; we have a few books where it's so small! The length of the story is perfect for a little one; it holds his already short attention span but it's not too long that he gets bored. At almost 10 months now, he actually consistently pulls this book from the pile of board books we have.

We are very happy with the quality of this book and I will even look into buying more in the series. Thank you.

My 5 month old isn't very interested, but I like the book. Hoping he grows to like it when he is grabbing the pages more later.
