Love Binds Family and Friends Forever!,
By
This review is from: That's The Way Love Goes (Paperback)
While I was not impressed with the games of the players of the BDP (Billion Dollar Playboys), I was definitely pleased with the fast-paced storytelling of Daryl Diggs. This first novel is very interesting and entertaining. The characters are strong, individually and collectively, 'specially dat sho nuff playa, JR. Diggs shows us that true love has its ups and downs, ins and outs, but loves goes beautifully when you endure.Don't be fooled by the appearance of this 192pp book. It confirms that big things really do come in small packages. That's the Way Love Goes is packed with LOTS of laughs and heartwarming moments. As you laugh at the antics of the BDP, you may hate their acts as playas, but you'll love and respect their loyalty for family and friends. Though you'll miss the BDP as they ride off into the sunset (as the book ends), the author definitely gives you an appetizer of his talent and makes you want to come back for more. I look forward to his future works. This is a quick, satisfying read of love for family, friends, and fun!

Excellent Book and Highly Recommended,

This review is from: That's The Way Love Goes (Paperback)
Where do I begin?? This was one of the best first-time novel by an Author that has totally impressed me. I was glued to each page from the moment I opened the book. This book was a very fast paced book and you fell in love with the characters. That's the Way Love Goes is one of the best novels I have read this year. It touched upon comedy, love, family, and friendship. When Donavin meets Jasmin, the "ONE", we see that even a playa can change when love enters into the picture. The Southern Dialog and analogies that JR comes up with is unbelieveable. I was laughing and saying to myself now that does make sense. This was very unique character building and I am just in awe with the Author. I brought this book into work and found myself sneaking off to read. I was very sad when the book ended because I just wanted more. I am looking forward to a sequel and possible hardcover copy for my collection because this one novel has earned a fan. Our book club has recommended this as one of our Book of the Months and we plan to use the discussion questions already prepared by the Author. Kudos to the Author Daryl C. Diggs! Just a wonderful piece of fiction!

Follow the path of love..and find an amusing debut novel!,
By
This review is from: That's The Way Love Goes (Paperback)
Now comes debut author Daryl C. Diggs with another boy meets girl saga with overtones of a love lost, regained, and redemption personified in the person of Donavin Jackson. Though sparse in page number, this book managed to keep my attention and proved to be quite entertaining, and is quite deceptive from the surface. This is an easy read where we find Donavin in the mold of a suave, debonair ladies man, full of charm confident on his ability to play the women and not be on the wrong side of love - until he meets Jasmine DeRoche a beautiful woman and sexy doyenne who sweeps him off his feet. After a whirlwind romance they are destined to go separate ways for a while and this is where the action really begins! As in any relationship of grand proportion, trust and understanding will be the base for not only lasting friendship, but a guarantee for a long romance. The author does a credible job in illustrating points of contention on those subjects, but really allow the book to add flavor along the way while interspersing the antics of friends J.R. and Spoon to the mix. In my opinion, what make this a good read are the storyline and the author's ability to combine different elements to tell a simple story. I harkened back to how he's able to meld comedy, love, family, friendship, and how it all comes to fruition with a believable end. Witness the Billion Dollar Playboys, as Donavin, Spoon, and J.R. dubbed themselves as they play the game of hunter capturing the game. A serious twist to the plot occur when Jasmine enters the picture reassuring that the boys have met their match, especially Donovin.... but it doesn't stop there. Mr. Diggs gives it a sense of realness, managing to keep the narrative moving and fresh. The comedic exchange adds a good muse to insure this one of the better short books I read this year. Rest assured this book will demand a sequel, or for the author to not tease us with brevity at the expense of a longer novel. I look forward to his next offering with great anticipation.

Love Is Never Easy!,
By
This review is from: That's The Way Love Goes (Paperback)
Donavin Jackson is smooth, debonair, handsome, and intelligent and he comes from a well-respected family. However, he is also a member of the BDP aka the Billion Dollar Players whose primary objective is to "screw em and leave em." During a summer internship in NYC, he meets Jasmine, a college graduate of his current college, and she seems to be on top of her game and has a few surprises for Donavin. Donavin enjoys the challenge and the chase and finds himself wanting to get to know Jasmine better and potentially continue a relationship once he returns to college to finish his senior year in Atlanta, GA. The road of LOVE is rarely without bumps, curves, sharp turns and potholes. However...Haunted House might be a better description to describe Donavin and Jasmine's relationship as it was filled with the bad, ugly and downright scary once they tried to stay in touch via a long-distance relationship. That's the Way Love Goes (TTWLG) by first-time author, Daryl Diggs, is hilarious, witty and well-written. TTWLG is truly Jasmine and Donavin's story as with the exception of Donavin's parents, who had True Black Love going on and were definitely a pleasure to read about, the other characters were not very distinctive. I found myself oftentimes rereading passages to try and recall which friend was who. After a while it did not matter because I did not necessarily consider them germane to the storyline. While reading TTWLG, I had to keep an open-mind regarding the characters. I considered many of their pranks and antics immature, childish and sometimes just downright stupid. I had to keep in mind that the characters were young and inexperienced. As such the outlandish and comical situations that they encountered were not out of the norm for that age-group. If you are looking for an entertaining, engaging and quick read then look no further than TTWGG. At just shy of 200 pages, I was able to finish the book in one sitting and was happy that the author did not add extemporaneous information just to extend the storyline. Young Adults, the college crowd, males (especially those trying to relive their youth) will especially enjoy TTWLG. On the APOOO 411 scale That's the Way Love Goes by Daryl Diggs is 3.5 stars. Yasmin

Excellent Debut Novel!,
By
This review is from: That's The Way Love Goes (Paperback)
That's The Way Love Goes, written by newcomer Daryl C. Diggs is a story about Donavin Jackson's college life with his 2 best friends, J.R. and Spoon. In the beginning of the story, Donavin, J.R. and Spoon are all big-time players known as the Billion Dollar Players (or BDP) but when Donavin meets the lovely and slightly older Jasmine, he's debating on turning in his "player's card" for good. Throughout the story, Donavin finds himself learning valuable lessons about himself, others, and life while trying to keep everything together in order to graduate from college. The two most enjoyable things about this book are its smooth, believable dialogue and its humor. Some of the lines in this story, especially some by J.R. are literally LAUGH OUT LOUD funny. If you are thinking that the college story has been done before, you may be correct in that thought, but, this was a very well written college story with some very interesting twists and turns throughout the novel. This book will be done before you know it since it's less than 200 pages but the author tells the story more than adequately given the size of his book. If you are looking for a good story that has great characters with some lines you won't soon forget ought to check this one out. This novel is an excellent start to a promising writing career for Daryl C. Diggs.

That's the Way Love Goes is one of the best debut novels I have read in a very long time. This book has it all, comedy, love, family, friendship and a story that leaves you waiting in anticipation for the sequel. This book has four main characters Donavin, Adam Whitherspoon aka Spoon, J.R. and Jasmine. You'll fall in love with these characters and not want the book to end. It is very fast pace and highly recommended. Donavin, Spoon, and J.R. are best friends and members of the BDP club: Billion Dollar Playboys. When love enters the picture between Donavin and Jasmine you see another side to both characters. Love makes you do some strange things but that's the way it goes. The story takes place in Atlanta at Stratford University. You get a taste of college days with the boyz and J.R. is one of most funniest characters I have ever read. Mr Diggs did an excellent job and I commend him for producing an excellent first novel.

I actually stumbled upon book by accident while surfing through my Amazon recommendations. Being that Daryl was a fellow graduate of Morehouse College, I instinctively purchased the book. When I received it, I thought to myself, "Here's another relationship book." Well, I was part right and part wrong. It WAS a relationship oriented novel, but it wasn't "just another" relationship novel. A few pages into the novel, the characters revealed themselves clearly, and I found myself sneaking away during lunch to read as much as I could. The story is very entertaining and the writing is sharp. Moreover, Daryl does a good job of bringing out emotions in the reader through his storytelling. After looking at the other reviews for this book, I will have to agree that the book is a little short for the subject matter, but it does wonders with the pages that it uses. Daryl Diggs is definitely a young writer to keep an eye on. And to think, he works on Wall Street??!!!

Lets really think about it?,

This was an absolutly exciting page turner. A great an easy novel which could have easily received 5 stars from me. However, do young 22 year old males drive porsches, ferraris, and lincoln navigators. You may be popular students; But come on, does every woman on campus want you and/or your other two BDP(Billion Dollar Playboys)friends? Can 3 men really when a fight against 10 other men regardless of their size? Does a fraternity of three, really have the bigggest parties on campus? Can a student graduate on time while not attending a single class for the semester? An finally, can a graduation speech make EVERY student run and hug their parents in the MIDDLE of the ceremony? While reading this novel you may come across many other things that will make you say "GET REAL!"Although this was very good drama filled page turner, the author just took his ideal image of himself(the author his writing of himself in college) alittle too far. With that said, ITS STILL A MUST BUY!

As writers often use embellishments to enrich their stories, this mere 192 page novel (yes, I dear to call it a novel) surprised me. No exaggerated jargon, straight forward and to the point. This novel will definitely prove to be a satisfying read. Like they say "good things come in small packages". Get your copy today!
