Superb 5.1 Remix, December 19, 2004
This review is from: That's the Way of the World: Alive in 75 (Audio CD)
Alive in '75 and Gratitude both showcase the phenomenal sound of EWF on their 1975 world tour. The Super Audio CD(SACD) format is the ultimate playback format. Both SACD's have clarity, dynamic range and a sense of being eveveloped in the sound.

I may catch it for this one: I have to preface this by saying that I'm a huge EWF fan. They are the reason I started playing music. I have all of their recorded output (including their early WB lp's) and a gang of EWF associated records (Ramsey Lewis, The Emotions, Pockets, Denice Williams, Caldera, Gene Harris, etc...). That being said, I cannot wholeheartedly recommend this disc to anyone but the most hardcore Earth, Wind & Fire fan. The "Gratitude" versions of Shining Star, Yearnin' Learnin', Sun Goddess and Reasons were much better. The Eternal Dance box set versions of Kalimba Story and Mighty Mighty were better. That only leaves the unreleased Evil & That's The Way Of The World. Two songs aren't enough to warrent the purchase of a CD (contrary to what current record company executives think). Pound for pound, it's a solid disc. But I'm not in love with it. It was just Sony's haphazzard way of making money off of group that hasn't been on the roster in over 10 years. I'd much rather people pick up the Live In Rio CD.

AN ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE!!!, May 12, 2005
This review is from: That's the Way of the World: Alive in 75 (Audio CD)
I listen to EWF music atleast 5 days a week, for the past 30 years! I didn't know this live album was out there. I'm so happy I bought it! This cd has an incredible live version of, Reasons! You'll get to hear EWF in their prime! Philip Baileys voice is at it's greatest, and so is Maurices! The horn section sounds the best it ever sounded too! If you love this incredible group as much as I do, You must buy this cd, YOU'LL BE VERY HAPPY U DID!
