This review is from: That's Where God Is (Hardcover)
My 5 year old is constantly asking Questions about God... it is great to be able to engage the subject, answer some of her questions, and still be able to return to this book over and over. She loves it and feels like it was written just for her! This Book is written well enough to be enjoyed by all ages, even this 30 year old man. :) I highly recommend this to buy, and to keep for the next generation.

Wonderful Family Story,
By
This review is from: That's Where God Is (Hardcover)
I love this book! It is a wonderful way to start great conversations with your children about God, and children love it because it is easy to understand and the illustrations are amazing! As a children's minster, I always look for resources that I can offer parents to build a foundation for a spiritual life for their children, this book great in that it helps children relate to the scriptures personally, while giving tools for parents to teach children about Christ.
One reviewer mentioned that he/she didn't like the prayer at the end of the book, I find it completely appropriate for preschooler and younger elementary children. The prayer is in a language that the children understand, they don't have the mental capacity yet to understand concepts like "salvation" "redemption" and other concepts that older children and adults really need to understand before they make their decision to accept Christ. I see this as a beautiful way to help a child discover Jesus, and that God is indeed everywhere when Christ lives in us. I will be purchasing these for our resource table, and for gifts because I think it is AWESOME!

Beautiful Book, Great Lessons,
By
This review is from: That's Where God Is (Hardcover)
I loved this children's book! It's the story of a little boy who asks his Grandpa where God is. His grandpa tells him to look for God during the week and let him know what he finds. Each page then shares one day of the week and how the little boy finds God in the activities of his day.
I loved the way this book teaches children to find how God is at work all around them. It also has a scripture that goes along with each way the little boy finds a part of God displayed around him (I loved the scriptures included). At the end of the story, the little boy reports back to his Grandpa, who then shares with the little boy about how God can be with him everywhere he goes by being in his heart. This is a great story, easy to read and relate to with children. The pictures are beautiful as well. I have a feeling it will become one of our favorites as Caleb grows older - I can see us reading it over and over. Great conversations could be had over the way this little boy finds God working around him and how we can see God working in our day as well. I received this book for free from The B&B Media Group for my honest review.

Where is God? Everywhere.,

Where is God?
That's what the little boy asks his grandpa and explores throughout the book. What's the answer? For starters, the boy decided God is at the zoo with all the animals He created. And at the ice cream parlor where his sister shares her treat with him. And in storms and all of nature. And in forgiveness for mistakes like breaking his mommy's vase. And in prayers of thanksgiving for a meal. And on the playground when friends help each other. Yep, he discovers that God is everywhere. And when he tells his grandpa, his grandpa asks if he would like God to be in his heart to, and he prays for that. It's sweet. It's even sweeter when you read the note at the end from Lee Strobel, father of one of the authors Ali Morrow (who co-authored this book with her husband Dan. Though I think it would be cooler if his name was Tom.). Strobel writes that this book is precious to him because he didn't direct his daughter or son to God when she was little because he and his wife were an atheist and agnostic at that time. He writes, "So today, Leslie and I can pull our little granddaughters onto our laps and read them this story of finding God in the nooks and crannies of daily life - and explain how they, too, can find eternal life through Him." My only critique is that salvation is presented in the flowery language of inviting God into your heart. The cross? Not mentioned. The resurrection? Nope. Acknowledgment of sin and the need for a Savior? Not there. The prayer the little boy prays? "Dear God, I am glad that You are all around me. I want You to be with me wherever I go. Come into my heart, and help me to be more like Jesus." I could express more of my discontent with this type of prayer, but Dr. Mohler does a better job here. Just do an online search using the keywords Mohler, ask, Jesus, and heart; it should come up. I would recommend this for homes where parents understand salvation and are teaching the Bible, thus teaching about the act of and reason for Christ's death and resurrection. As an outreach gift to those who aren't teaching that in their homes, I would find something that teaches the Gospel without using ambiguous euphemisms. (Many thanks to The B&B Media Group, Inc. for providing this review copy for my review. Neither they nor David C. Cook publishers asked for anything other than an honest review.)

So that's where He is!,

This review is from: That's Where God Is (Hardcover)
I have received a couple of children's books to review recently. One of them is That's Where God Is by Dan and Ali Morrow. It is illustrated by Cory Godbey and was provided to me by Audra Jennings with The B&B Media Group, Inc. The book was published by David C. Cook.
I read this book to my son the day we received it in the mail. He loved it. The illustrations are colorful and eye catching. That's Where God Is tells the story of a little boy who asks his Grandpa, "Where is God?" His Grandfather sends the little boy on a mission to look for God during the following week. Through the telling of this delightful story, the authors do an excellent job of exploring the many ways God can be discovered within the events of each day of the week. In each two-page spread, a new day of the week is featured. The little boy finds a different situation in which the he "finds" God. A Scripture verse underscores that particular "sighting" and reveals further truths about God's character and redeeming power in our daily lives. Not only does this book provide an amazing way to talk with your child about Emmanuel, God with us, but it provides a unique way to teach your preschooler the days of the week. I am using it with my son's preschool work this year. This book provides the opportunity for meaningful discussion with your child. When we read the book through the first time, Bentley asked many questions. That's Where God Is opens up a world of opportunity to talk with your child about creation, the power of a thunderstorm and how not to be afraid, to the way you share things with others, how you forgive, and how to show mercy. In the end the Grandfather shares with the boy how God can be with him wherever he goes: "You see," said Grandpa, "God wants us to be just like His Son, Jesus. We can't do it on our own, but we can ask God's Spirit to come into our hearts and help us. When we do that we know that God is with us wherever we go." That's Where God Is begins a two-part series on spiritual formation for young children. I can't wait for the second book in this series! And maybe it's because this book was as much for me as it was for my child. As a 39 year old woman, I need to be reminded to look for God in all of my days. God used this simple children's book to convict me of how many times I "miss" God during my day. I highly recommend this book for your children and for YOU!

Great Message,

This review is from: That's Where God Is (Hardcover)
This is a precious picture book written to help parents talk to their child about God. Where is God and how can I find him? This story starts out with a young boy sitting on his Grandpa's lap asking him about God.
His Grandpa discusses the topic of God and he challenges the boy to look for God this week and report back to him what he finds. The little boy is excited about this mission his Grandpa has him on. He's earnestly starts his search of God. Where can he find him? Since his eyes have been opened to the possibilities through what his Grandpa says he finds the most amazing things. I'm so excited about this series and how this topic is handled. This book is a great vehicle to have parents and children talk about big topics like God. Dan and Ali Morrow make is simple. I think that's what I loved most about this book plus I enjoyed the pictures too. I can't wait for the next book in this series. I was so thankful to receive a review copy of this book. A Beautifully Illustrated Book with a Beautifully Touching Story,
By Jennifer (Fairfax, VA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: That's Where God Is (Hardcover)
From the moment I took this book out of it's mailing envelope, I was in love. The illustrations drew me into the book immediately. The engaging water color and ink paintings are reminiscent of a simpler time, a time when loved ones could sit, talk, and enjoy the quiet company of a story without interruption. It is, however, the story that solidifies this book as a gem.
That's Where God Is is the story of a young boy who upon wondering "Where is God?" is challenged by his grandfather to "keep your eyes open" throughout the week. The young boy finds God in nature, in acts of kindness such as sharing and forgiving, and in spending time with friends. In fact, at the end of the week, he exclaims: "Everywhere I go, God is already there!" And that's when Grandpa shares with the little boy how to ask God into his heart as well, and with his Grandpa near by, he prays to welcome the Lord into his young heart. That's Where God Is is a touching story that could be shared with a child by a parent, or even better yet, a Grandpa like the doting grandfather in the story. Each day, as the little boys finds God in a new place, a Bible verse is shared, emphasizing the truth of the little boy's discovery. I received this book from B&B Media Group in exchange for my honest review. The thoughts printed in this review are entirely my own.

Awesome!,
By
This review is from: That's Where God Is (Hardcover)
I have to confess. I'm an idiot. When I was offered this book for review, it never even occurred to me why the title sounded so familiar. It wasn't until after I read the book to my daughters, Coco and Lulu, and 2 of our neighbors who were over for the afternoon, and I saw the afterword by Lee Strobel, that I remembered. Strobel - as in Alison Strobel Morrow. As in the author of The Weight of Shadows: A Novel, a book that I reviewed on my website. This awesome book is written by one of my favorite new authors - and her husband! And I didn't even realize it when I read it. And I still loved it! And I'm done saying "and". I think.
One day a little boy says to his grandpa, as he's sitting on his grandpa's lap "Grandpa, where is God?". Grandpa agrees that he's asked a really good question, and suggests that the little boy look for God throughout the week. They decide to talk about it again when they see one another the following Sunday. So the little boy sets out on a adventure to find God in his every day life. The little boy was able to find God amongst his classmates, zoo animals, with his family, and with his friends. There's some extra learning going on this book as well. Your children will learn about the days of the week and will have the opportunity to learn the scripture verses which accompany each "sighting" of God. This book is perfect for helping to answer a question that your child is sure to ask one day soon - if she hasn't already. My 6 year old, Lulu, immediately after hearing the question, asked what God looks like. She scrutinized every picture seeking Him out. She really enjoyed the little situations in which our big 'ole God was there. My 4 year old was the first to realize the most important place where God is. She thought it was funny that God was involved in the ice cream situation. Neighbor Isis, 10, enjoyed reading this Christian story and recounted the Last Supper where Jesus washed the feet of His disciples in "a bucket". Little Miss Peyton, who just turned 4 last month, said she enjoyed the whole story, but liked the pictures the best.

That's Where God Is,

That's Where God is by Dan and Ali Morrow is such a beautiful book about a little boy and his grandfather. The little boy who has no name in the book that I am going to call Jacob (because that is our little grandson's name) goes to see his grandparents every Sunday, he love to play with his grandfather. One Sunday they were playing and Jacob asked his grandfather where God is. The Grandfather told him to look around him all the next week and see if he could find where God was. So all week Jacob looked at everything he did and found God in everything. The next Sunday when he was back at his grandparents home he told his grandfather where all he had found God, the grandfather told him that God was also in his heart. So Jacob learned all about God from his grandfather and all around him.
This is such a beautiful book for a kindergarden age child. So beautiful illustrated with words and pictures, a must for all 4, 5 and 6 year old children, This book was sent to me for review by Karen at The B&B Media Group, Inc.

The first book in a two part series which promises more adventures in spiritual explorations to come,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: That's Where God Is (Hardcover)
"That's Where God Is" is the beginning of a Christian-oriented answer to a young child's question, "Where can I find God?" Told as a story of a visit between a young boy and his grandfather, "That's Where God Is" points children towards the idea of looking for God every day, seven days a week. Each day brings different experiences to the boy, illuminated by related Scripture quotations that help draw the young mind towards awareness of God. The pastel tinted illustrations help to bring just the right quality of mindfulness to each days special experiences of God. The book does not end with the boy realizing that God is everywhere around him. After he tells his grandfather all the days and ways he found God, he asks, "Where else could God be?" When he finds God can be in his heart he decides he wants to invite God to be in his heart and with him wherever he goes. He asks his grandfather to teach him how to pray. Learning to pray is a joyous experience, simply expressed. "That's Where God Is" presents a natural learning experience for very young children as they are beginning to discover and explore their spirituality and belief in God. It is the first book in a two part series which promises more adventures in spiritual explorations to come.
