Biography

There are certain milestones in an artist's career that would seem to inspire a moment of reflection. Yet as Craig Morgan put the finishing touches on THIS OLE BOY, an album marking more than ten years since the release of his self-titled debut album back in 2000, the singer/songwriter has a surprising reaction when asked for his thoughts on his decade-long run.Total shock.

I'm guessing that the record companies are trying to find new and infuriating ways to annoy the fans. I bought this album when it was released in 2008; I've always been a big fan of Craig Morgan. BUT, the album is released again in 2009 with two track changes, "Summer Sundown" and "Every Red Light" have been replaced with two new songs, "Bonfire" and "This Ain't Nothin". Doing this kind of marketing just really frosts me and I loose all respect for the artist. Terri Clark did this with her Greatest Hits album where she added two songs that if you wanted them you had to buy the entire album of song that I already had (I had all her albums up to that time) and Taylor Swift is doing the same thing with her album, a re-release of old material with a few new songs. If the artist has some new songs...put them in there next all new album and quit shafting the fans.

The artists that pull this kind of thing are the ones that I probably won't buy another album of; Craig Morgan is going to have to do something out of this world for me to buy another one of his albums and I'm not buying Taylor Swifts albums anymore (and likely won't Terri Clark's either).

I'd have given this a five star rating except for the lousy treatment of the fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars GOOD STUFF October 21, 2008
Format:Audio CD
I purchased the MP3 version from Amazon because I am in Iraq. This CD is really good. Craig not only sings country good, but he sounds country doing it. I was wondering if moving over to Sony would change the quality of his music, but it is still good, if not better. I recommend "Sticks", an upbeat song about being in the country. As well as "It Took a Woman" and the title song "That's Why". But to be honest they are all good. You can listen to the whole CD and you won't be disappointed.

3.0 out of 5 stars It is better to get what you order. October 8, 2009
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
The CD is fine but the excerpts of the songs of the CD on the internet included 2 songs, including the best one, that were not on the CD I obtained. Thus, the purchase was a waste since I had to purchase another CD that included the better songs, locally. Beware!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Most Talented Artists Out There February 24, 2010
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Craig Morgan is one of the most talented, most under-rated country singers around. In my opinion he is much more talented than the likes of Kenny Chesney or Tim McGraw, yet he doesn't seem to get the recognition he deserves. The songs on this CD are no exception, whether you're looking for a good time ("Bonfire"), or looking for something more emotionally intense ("This Ain't Nothin'"). Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars WHY NOT!!!! April 5, 2009
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This is one of those rare cd's that the music is not only top of the line great, but actually makes total sense in the way the songs were actually put together. I love them all, but of the ones not already released as singles, check out Planet Her and Ordinary Angels. I would absolutely recommend this CD to anyone that likes good music let alone anyone that likes Country Music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gettin' Better and Better October 26, 2008
Format:MP3 Music
I have been a Craig Morgan fan from day one. His music comes from deep in his heart. Each album keeps getting better. I am upset that he is not up for nominations when he is just so great. But I guess his time is coming, I hope. He is such a down home good singer and he needs to get more notice with all his qualities. Love, love, love Craig Morgan

3.0 out of 5 stars Craig Continues a Sparkling Career January 17, 2009
By Alan
Format:Audio CD
This is Craig Morgan's first Major label release and continues the same formula that has defined his other, Independently-released albums: Life affirming, and often nostalgic, songs about every day folk delivered in a crisp, honeyed baritone. Craig has recorded many such songs in the past, most notably the hits "Little Bit of Life", "Tough", "That's What I Love About Sunday" and "Every Friday Afternoon". He has recently fullfilled a life-long ambition to become a member of The Grand Ole Opry, an honour of the highest calibre.

The lead single "Love Remembers" became his fifteenth hit (his others are available on his Greatest Hits package). It's a big production, highly orchestrated power ballad which includes a soaring vocal climax. The song states that although we ourselves may try to forget the details of romantic events i.e. an old flame, a broken heart, an unfortunate end to a burgeoning relationship, "love remembers". Although a hit, peaking just outside the Top Ten on the US Hot Country Charts, it is still not the best cut of the record. That honour should surely go to the appreciative "God Must Really Love Me", the hopeful "Lookin' Back With You" ("I look forward to lookin' back with you") and the wistful "It Took a Woman (To Make a Man Out of Me)".

Many of the songs on this outing are mid-tempo, unlike previous hits ("Redneck Yacht Club", "I Got You") and, collectively, follow a reflective concept, grateful for even the bittersweet things life brings. Some songs don't move forward artistically. "Sticks", for example, more than recalls his 2007 Top Ten hit "International Harvester", but the gospel-tinged "Ordinary Angels", complete with choir, more than makes up for this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! LOVE THIS CD!!!!!!!!! October 27, 2008
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I literally just received this CD in the mail about three hours ago, and I can't stop listening to it!

I bought the CD because I was fortunate enough to have discovered Craig Morgan, recently. In watching YouTube, I came across his new video/song LOVE REMEBERS, and instantly fell in love with it. That song alone was worth purchasing the CD but a few others seemed like they would be good as well. I have now been listening to it for three hours and can't seem to stop.

My favorites so far:

Love Remembers
God Must Really Love Me
That's Why
Sticks
Summer Sundown
Every Red Light
It Took A Woman
Planet Her
Ordinary Angels

Okay, so I ended up listing every song except one, so I might as well add that as well.

Look' in Back With You

Which by the way is also great.

Thank you Craig Morgan for this amazing CD, and to your family for supporting you so we can be blessed with your wonderful voice and music. It's so nice to have such an amazing writer and singer that knows his priorities in life. God, the family.
God bless.

Don't miss out...pick up this CD today. And while you're at it, check out his other CD's. I highly recommend them!
